IS ANY ONE THERE..............?

Now I have changed the book I am reading to a new non-read history book -230 pages- as this might cause me more excitement because of not knowing what's in the book-, only tried to activate it once it didn't work. So my questions are?
1. Is it better 2 photoread a non-read book or a book I read before?
2. Shall I PR the same book everyday until I feel that it has been activated?
3. Shall I try to activate the same book everyday until it works?
4. What is the minimal number if trials for beginners – if there is any-?
5. Shall I keep on changing the purpose & the probing questions?

Thanks for trying to help me finding what I am doing wrong.

Tell me the title of the book you are activating and your purpose for the book.

Tell me your trigger words.

Tell me your mind-probing questions.

Photoread4me,

I thanks for trying to help.

My second book is an Arabic history book (Arabic is read from right to left) does this make any difference?

My purpose:
1. Is to know the history of this duration so I become more educated, hence more knowledgeable.
2. To learn Photoreading

My trigger words:
17 Words my eyes glimpsed during surveying the book mainly they are names (People, kings; wars, agreements,….)

My mind-probing questions:
They are mainly asking why or who to headlines or subtitles.

For the second book – the history book- I am in the day 4 of the plan page 78, I have a problem that super reading dipping and or skittering I finish the 30 minutes with reading only half the pages I photoread. If I move faster my comprehension drops down dramatically, even with half the pages - 120 pages- in 30 min my comprehension is not that grate.

Yesterday I removed the pressure that I have put on my self that I must learn photoreading in 15 days, and said that I won't die if I didn’t learn at all or learn in a much longer duration.

Again thanks and awaiting for your reply…

Hello Sherifelabd. Welcome.

I do not think so.

I think this is the source of your problem. My understanding of purpose is that it has 2 components. One component of purpose is why? Why do you need this information. Why is it important for you to know the history of this particular duration. How is knowing this particular information going to have a impact on your life? How will this information affect your life? The other part of purpose is how will you use or apply this information. What do you plan on doing with this information once you obtain the information? How will you use this information?

It is not a good idea to learn photoreading on textbooks or study material. It is best to find a book that has no consequence attached to it. Something like a self help book or a book of interest that does not have academics involved with it. The best process would be to learn photoreading with non school books master the processes and then when you feel confident you have mastered the system then transfer the new skill to school material.

I need to clarify that superreading is not reading. Sometimes people confuse superreading with regular reading which superreading is not. When you are superreading you are going through the book at tremendous speeds usually 15 seconds a page. That is flying through a book and properly done you are not spending a lot of time on page reading something. You stop and dip in to read something if you are attracted to it based on your purpose.

The way to handle your concern regarding comprehension is multiple passes. You are not going to get it all the first 1 or 2 passes. I recommend that you do six 30 minute superreading & dipping or skittering passes. Each 30 superread or skittering should have a 5 minute break at the end of the pass.I also recommend that you write your mind probing questions down on paper. Also understand that is you choose to use skittering instead of superreading it will be a little slower but still will be fast 30 seconds a page instead of 15 seconds a page.

I also suggest you do a mind-map of the book.

Thanks Photoread4me for your reply,

I think I am not sure what do you mean by textbook? Maybe the book I am reading is so. However, I work in a business which has no relation with history, so I have no pressure what so ever while reading, it's just a hobby.

Regarding the multiple passes do you recommend doing it on a book that I have read before so my comprehension will be better or a new book so it generates more curiosity or the same book I have already photoread several times?

Should the mind mapping be done even at this level of comprehension or wait until I feel I'm fairly competent Photoreader and rap it with the mid-mapping?

By textbook i mean a book such as science, physics, algebra, biology, history.
I recommend that you do multiple passes on all books whether they be books you have read before or new books that you have not read. I recommend that you do the multiple passes until the book gels or comes together and you have gotten everything you wanted to get from the book.

I suggest you do mind-mapping on every book you activate. The mind-mapping should be done after you have superread or skitter. You should probably spend about 15 minutes working on the mind-map. Do a search on mind-mapping. Mind-mapping is particularly useful to new or begineer photoreaders because it helps them to use more of their mind.

Couple of questions...

1. How do you feel about the book? Are you excited about learning from it? Does anything jump out at you as really interesting and suitable for your purpose?

2. Which activation method brings you the best results? I find that mind mapping books uncovers information in layers.... it also helps me formulate new mind probing questions and the relationships between key points.

Dear matthat,
I don’t know whether ur asking me to try to help me or asking photoread4me because you need help?

If ur asking me until now feel nothing towards any book, although I do a lot of probing questions, super reading, dipping & skittering.

Regarding mid mapping I was under the impression that I should do it after I comprehend so I summarize the book & can easily get back 2 it at any time, however I will start today to mind map maybe it helps more in activating…as advised by you & photoread4me

Hi sherifelabd

My questions were directed at you, sorry, my bad.

If you don't feel anything towards the book, why are you reading it? When I photoread, by the time i have previewed a book I am excited by what i'm going to learn, I already have a feeling about how much I am going to get from the book, and I already know which sections are going to have more content for me than others.

So my mind probing questions arise from that state of mind.

If after previewing (and possibly photoreading) the book, I feel nothing towards it then I ditch it... there are too many books to be interested in to spend time on those that I don't feel anything about even when I have my purpose in mind.

As for mind-maps, I find mind mapping a great way to create, answer and develop mind probing questions.
