Hi, I'm new here. But here's something that might help with visualization.

Light a candle and stare at it for 3 minutes. Notice all the details of the wax, holder, flame. Then shut your eyes and try to re-create the candle in as much detail as you can. Do this several times.

You can do this with anything. Someone's face, a nature scene, a postcard or photograph. Not only will it help your visualization, it creates new neural pathways in yr brain. It's said that Buddhist Monks can look at a tanka (a very detailed buddhist painting) and close their eyes and see the entire thing.

Hope this helps.

You might ask yourself why you have been staying in an abusive environment...and if this is the kind of environment you want to work in? If not, then is is probably time to get your resume out and ask around for opportuntities...dont suddenly quit- get another job and THEN quit.

You might also ask yourself (and maybe others) why people have been so harsh with you. Is there a reason for them to be envious or upset ? If so, what can you do differently, what can you improve? You can have power by choosing to be accountable- not by being a victim.

Hi Vita-man,

Just wanted you to know that I spent a lot of time over the holidays to think about my situation and, thanks to everybody's support here, I have decided to remove myself from the toxic environment at work. It is not a decision that I took lightly but, no matter what I say to my work mates and no matter what I do at work to improve the situation, I will not be able to change the people I work with, so why try? Instead, I will endeavour to change myself and start fresh.

I have already sent out my resume to a couple of people and I feel quite optimistic. Could be the paraliminals and subliminals giving me hope, but either way, we are what we think and these tapes make me think that I deserve better than what has been put on my plate thus far.

Life is too beautiful and short to worry about venomous work mates. I can use that energy to build new relationships. And hopefully next time, with the help of IPM, I will not give anyone else a chance to label me or treat me disrespectfully.

Thanks again. And thanks EVERYONE here. You have been absolutely wonderful to me. I would have otherwise spent a very depressing holiday season. Instead, I made good use of the time off.

Thanks!

Happy New Year all!

I'm new to the forum and to paraliminals. I received a set of 4 for Christmas, and have been experimenting. One of them is the New History Generator, which is causing me some pain.

My problem is that it relies heavily on visualization, which is a very weak area for me. I hate to admit it but I am 99% occluded in visualization. I am very experienced with yoga, meditation, breathwork, etc. But when I have to rely on visualization I am stumped and frustrated.

I am definitely oriented toward kinesthetic and auditory type work. I guess what I am looking for is some input before I throw in the towel and return this particular CD.

Any thoughts anyone?

Just let go and let your inner mind do the sensing. Consciously you don't need to get it too right.

For most people visualising is like looking through a dirty window. People make the mistake of thinking that to think visually they must see it with their mind's eye in full Technicolor. Not so. Even Win points out that you must use all your inner senses, sound, taste, touch, and emotion as well as seeing. I still find the best way to get it rolling is to imagine and make believe. Like running your fingernails down a chalkboard, notice the sound you think you hear and the reaction of your skin if that thought got you going. Remember it was a mere "verbal" description. Words describing something.

If you want to image stream tell the story write the description and talk to a tape player out loud. To me it's not important whether I see it in my minds eye with the clarity I describe it before I described it or after I described it. I don't believe it can be separated. If I can tell you what I had for dinner yesterday. Then the image and the words are stored in my mind for retrieval. You might say, but that's not visualising that's just remembering something. As Vera Birkenbihl points out in the Memory Optimizer course. Memory is only possible through reconstruction. Over time memory changes because each time we remember something we have to reconstruct it.

So if you're stuck on visualisation think of something you already know and describe that. Whether you hear yourself thinking, sense it, feel it or have vague pictures use it and rest assured that the inner mind sees it better than your small conscious mind.

Image Streaming is intended to help strengthen the connections to conscious understanding of the messages from the inner mind. If you use image streaming and just use the words you hear to start talking out loud to a tape recorder you'll make great inroads into understanding the messages (whether or not you see them visually).

Hi Decision2change

Sounds like you did some soul searching. Make sure that you stay on there until a new position is offered to you, and try your best to leave on a good note. Speaking as a career counselor, having watched peoples choices and consequences, I urge you to do those two things.

In the meantime, why not listen to Positive Relationships adn New History Generator?

Thanks vita-man. I have been trying to brain wash myself with the same. "Leave on a good note" "don't burn bridges". I intend to, but God help me if they call me a 'quitter' then I will let them have it!

I do have those 2 tapes. I will listen to them daily until then. Thank you for caring!
