Just push on through the course and do the exercises. I basically failed the exercises but I gave them my best shot. It does not matter if you don't come up with good answers for the exercises at first (or even any answers at all) - the point is that you went through the exercise and asked your brain those questions. Your brain knows where the stuck states are, even if you consciously can't think of any right now.

I think that a lot of the learning that occurs during the course and the execution of the technique after the course happens below the level of conscious thought.
