I have just recently learned about the secret and have started trying to implement it in my life. My biggest difficulty has been my job. I currently work an assembly-type job, on my own, eight hours a day. With all that free time on my own, I inevitably succumb to that sinking doubt: "How is it going to happen?" "Is it really possible?"
Years and years of self-doubt is challenging to overcome, I know, but forty hours a week of this type of thinking will naturally prevent manifestation of my dreams!!!
I was hoping that maybe I could get some hints and tips from people who are using the secret in their own lives - a different perspective would be very helpful indeed!
Thank you

Two suggestions - first, ask the universe to make you aware when you travel into negative thoughts because awareness is the first step. You consciously think positive and then your old negative thoughts hit the ball back
Have you wondered how to bring the Secret Law of Attraction into your life?

Enjoy!

Be kind to yourself, and don't beat yourself up for having these thoughts. (That is counter-"The Secret".) When they do come up, though, try turning them around:

"How is it going to happen?" can become "I don't know how it will happen, but I know I will love it when it does."

"Is it really possible?" can be answered by all the times you have attracted things into your life. Think of at least three, even small, tiny things. Then smile. You know it is possible, because you've done it before.

I once had a job similar to yours (not assembly work, but not work that required a lot of thought or attention--I could put it on autopilot most of the time), and I really enjoyed it for a time. This was mainly because I was free to travel in my mind, sort of like daydreaming. (In fact, it's a lot like the technique called "Flowdreaming" described in a book by the same name, by author Summer McStravick.) I daydreamed my way into a better job, a much nicer home, and finding my soulmate. Maybe you can use your time in the same way?

Good luck. I know you will succeed.

Another couple of quick suggestions:

When your mind starts down the negative path, and you realize this - simply say "Cancel, Cancel".

Then, to get it back on track to where you'd like it go to, ask it a positive-based question - and relax. You may not get the answers immediately, but the asking puts it into a positive "frame", so it needs to look for positive solutions for you. Simple questions such as 'How can I acquire "X"?('x' being whatever it is you do want in your life - health, freedom, personal growth, money, etc.). You may not get an answer immediately, but you can also then move forward to visualize/imagine (therefore, showing your mind) what it IS that you do want - and it'll put out a cosmic search team for you - to find IT. Keep asking these types of questions whenever you catch yourself heading down the negative-talk path.

Then start paying attention to things happening in your life - being alert to opportunities when they do show up is better than half the game. That's the big difference, actually, because as long as you allow your mind to preach all the negative it's been fed by others (creating doubt) in your life, you'll not be focused enough to see opportunity when it arrives. Learning to focus is a skill easiest acquired by doing some form of meditation daily, even if it's only 10 minutes per day. Learn how to turn on the switch of the laser light in your mind, and you can shine it wherever YOU chose it to shine.

So, ready - set - FOCUS!!!

Cheers!

It's hard to avoid thinking negative once in a while. When that happens I just stop myself in the middle of the act. Then I usually will start thinking about something different instead, like what I am grateful for and what I want, not what I don't want or don't like.

If the job is part of your problem: When it comes to getting a better and more interesting job, there's inspired action to take. Like looking for other jobs (of course), take job courses to change or improve career, make your CV available for possible employers on career websites, visit/call other possible employers and check for available work etc.

One thing you can do is to take an affirmation like "great things always happen to me" and write it out and post it everywhere you go, even on the rear view mirror of the car. You are faced with it every place you go. At first you will have resistance to this but at some point the resistance will break down and you will just accept it. Great things will always happen to you.

Then you'll probably look for other and better affirmations to use.

Haha, funny how people keep referring to this as 'The Secret.' Like, 'Are you using the secret?' and "Does the secret work?' It's laughable. It's not a secret - it's well known theory that people have seemingly had work for them, and fail for them. Thousands of books have been written about it. It's VERY far from a secret.

What's also funny about it is all these 'the secret' experts popping out of the woodwork to teach people about how stuff works, on youtube and whatnot. The common denominator for these people seems to be that they're of the rather naive kind, that they only have very superficial knowledge of what they're 'teaching', and that they're poor as a rat.

Nitnit--very funny! Yeah, I'm sure Joe Vitale, Jack Canfield and all those others are "poor as a rat." I mean, other than their large houses, terrific cars, and large bank accounts.

Sure, it's no secret for us who are into self help, but for the ordinary man in the street it might be a totally new concept. And thanks to Ophrah it has spread to the rest of the world.
