Deciding what you want is the "KEY" to everything! Everyone wants a better life and what does that entail: more money, ability to travel, fulfilling experiences, a better relationship, etc. However, people do not get specific. I know, I used to be one of those people. I wanted all of these things, but my goals were never clearly defined. The point I am trying make is that I knew where I wanted to go, but I never put a destination in place. The best definition of our brains is that they are like GPS systems, in order to get where you want to go you need to plot a destination or "goal". The amazing thing is that I have plotted my destination and I am also now in a position where I can help people do that.

Now you may be asking how this relates to Paraliminals. I have been viewing many of the posts on this forum and astounded at the fact that people where just purchasing the audios hoping for a quick fix. I understand that there are areas in our lives that we wish we could improve, but in order for that to occur you truly need to know what you need the most help in. That goes back deciding what you want. After you decide what you want, a person needs to put a plan in place and begin to do it. You will discover that as you begin the process all those areas in which you thought you had problems with are not as big as you thought. Also, you will discover where your greatest weaknesses are.

The point I want to make is to invest in books/audios where you need to improve the most. You will then discover that as you improve in one area, some of your other weaknesses go away all together. The reason: you start to build confidence and those areas become smaller and smaller. To the point where you don't think about them anymore. You just need to start somewhere.

I know from my experiences that that is how it began with me. I was reading books just to read them, but they weren't helping as much as I wanted them to. It wasn't until I began to read books and listen to audios that focused on the areas which I needed the most improvement. I read one book that led me to another then led me to anther. It was the LOA in action. I began to focus so much on finding what I needed and I did. It all began with goal setting.

These tools were a huge benefit and use them continously:
PhotoReading Book
Genius Mind DVD
Natural Brillance Book
Prosperity Paraliminal
Talking to Win Paraliminal (truly amazing)

Just decide what you want!!
A million Thank Yous!!

yes that is true, but I still have trouble with deciding!

Maybe that is what I want is to decide what I want... right? Or to create the space to decide.

Anyhow, there are immediate needs to be taken care of like paying the bills and then there are emotional needs like relationships. Then there is health and wellbeing.

Hope for the best for everyone,

Hi:

I took my NLP Practitioners certification course this weekend, and one of the things we worked with was called "The Meta Model". It is an exquisite way of going through various questions which will provide you with the "inside" story on exactly what you want.

We tend toward fuzzy thinking because it is more comfortable, possibly less time-consuming, and hey, if you haven't made a decision yet, how can you be blamed for anything, so it's a "dodge" to taking responsibility.

I would suggest either work fairly consistently with the paraliminals, because they are based on using these concepts, or find someone who has been using NLP in practice for a while, and have them work through The Meta Model with you.

Getting clarity is essential if you're going to do anything worthwhile in life. You cannot even take responsible action unless you know what you're moving toward. Beyond that, once you understand how you make decisions, it becomes much easier.

So - Go for it!

Cheers!

I would really like to thank mishka and Unis for their posts on this thread. It is very encouraging. I am reading a lot of Napoleon Hill right now and so much of what is jumping of the page at me is this same theme: have a definite purpose (mission statement, or begin with the end in mind, ala Stephen Covey etc).

I think one thing that helps me as I read Hill's books and this thread is the idea that something is better than nothing. I.e. Have SOME definite purpose. Just pick something, anything. Try for something that you can feel passionately. One can always change it later! It may even change on its own.

I seem to remember something I learned in a Marshall Thurber "Money & You" seminar back around 1982. He was teaching something from R. Buckminster Fuller, may his memory and teaching always be for blessing. And it was this idea of goals creating what I think he called "vector energy". I.e. having a goal create forward motion and then as the "wheel turns" as it were, the goal may change to something even better, clearer, more appropriate, whatever. But without the initital goal, there would have been no momentum to get closer to something better.

For me at least, this is very helpful and liberating, because I am one of those people having difficulty in making focused goals for all kinds of reasons. But reading this thread, the Hill books and remembering this teaching from Bucky Fuller, I realize that goals are also tools, just as means are! There is nothing written in stone, nor need there be. But the more definite the purpose, the more that momentum begins and the "magnetic power" of the Law of Attraction, will begin to put the "wind at our backs". Now there's a mixed metaphor for you!

For those of you who do not want to take an NLP practitioner course (and I recomend you DO) or can't find a practitioner in your area, one of Bandler and Grinders earliest and most important books is an excellent introduction. It is called The Structure of Magic 1, and outlines the Meta Model and how to begin using it.

Unis- that is wonderful! This is a powerful tool set for you professionaly, and as you integrate this into your own internal dialogue you will naturaly have more and more clarity. When I read your post, I thought "Hey, yeah, the Meta Model. I forgot about that!" But as I looked at my internal dialogue, I noticed that these patterns are natural to me- I stopped noticing them consiously after they became habit long ago!

Thanks, vita-man, for your encouraging comments.....

Not to throw this thread completely off track, but I just wanted to say that this NLP course was HUGE for me. I cleared out so much of my own garbage across four days that I feel a couple of tonnes lighter in the emotional areas, and it is also working on the physical level as well to "release" the weighty issues I have had.

I think the best thing, though, is I finally sat down (at the beginning of the course) and wrote out goals I wanted to achieve (3 or 4 for each of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual) across the course. I hit on most of them at least once. It was extremely empowering! I no longer fear sitting down to write goals, because now I have a way to work through them. And I'm in love with the "Meta Model" stuff - simply elegant!!!

Yes, definitely if you get the opportunity (even if you're not a hypnotist), take the basic NLP course, or get involved in a group where it is discussed on a regular basis - many NLP practitioners offer these evenings at little cost - and you can learn so much.

I can hardly wait for the Master Practioner course coming in October - and I'm definitely putting it out to the Universe that the cash to do so will be available. (I waited for two years to have the financial means to take the current course - that was just too long!).

Cheers!

I took my Practitioner's from NLP Comprehensive and my Master Prac. from NLP U. with Robert Dilts and Judith Delozier.

I can whole heartedly recommend NLP Comprehensive for anyone interested. That training was one of the best experiences of my life.

And as was mentioned, the field changes a lot and I can only imagine the kinds of training they are offering now. The good trainers apply what they learn each year to the training itself, so you're getting application of NLP to training NLP... and your NLP training should be an experience you'll never forget.

If it's taught right you'll come out of it demonstrating skills you weren't aware you were being taught.

It's pretty amazing. You develop unconscious competence rather quickly in these trainings.

This is an interesting topic/header

In general, (note not in reference to anyone on this thread.. ;-) ) everyone is saying we must set goals so that it will help us get what we want... and then these goals have to be SMART, i.e. Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevance and Timely (corporate world term)

Recently, I came across a report of an interview given by Bob Proctor that commented "Even some of the most serious goal seekers and goal setters, they're going after what they think they can get."

so.. it sets me to wonder, for those goals that we set, are they really what we want or what we think we can get... hmm

Food for thought at this moment, at least for me ;-)

Cheers
Janice
