Yes, I am both. When I first started studying NLP, it was mostly interesting to therapists. It became popular among sales and marketing folks, and anyone who wants to improve their communication skills and personal performance. I do not know what they teach in it now- but there used to be an introduction to the language patterns of Milton Erickson in the course.

Why not start with a couple of books on NLP, and see if it is a model that you would like to study, and find useful, before spending alot of money on the course.

As for hypnotherapy: yes, it is a very good counsleing mode for many kinds of issues. I consider Pauls paraliminals as hypnosis- you may want to find a qualified counselor in your area to help you one on one with your change work.
