I have just ordered my program, but I have a quick questions. I have had a lot of pain in my lower back, sciatic, and hips over the past 2 years. I have been going to a chiropracter and just recently and acupunturist. Part of my therapy has been walking in a swimming pool since it is still very painful for me to stand for any length of time.

Is it possible to do the exercises in the pool so that I can stand upright?

Thank you,

I expect it would have to do with the nature of the practice you wish to engage.

Master Lin's advice is not to perform meditations in water (tub, pool, lake).

I won't go against his advice.

If you are considering doing an eye-open exercise program that uses the SFQ movements I would consider that as okay. However, that is not the true emphasis of the active "meditation". Since the energy follows where the mind goes, the eyes closed is essential to active or sitting meditations. If you engage in this kind of practice I would strongly advice against doing them in water. I personally have had experience which could have serious consequences had I been in even a tub of water.

Guard your own safety.

There are also additional concerns with opening your channels to the universe while in water, since the qi can readily flow out of you body in this state.

I believe there are conditions under which you can enhance just about everything with an understanding and use of qigong.

I'm sure that sounds like mixed advice, but I only see it as my expansion of Master Lin's advice. Everything else said, Master Lin's advice is best. Don't.

You are perfection.

Thank you so much for your insight. I will just do what I can as I can and trust the process. I still have a lot to learn and I am sure I will be asking a lot of questions.

I should be receiving my package this week and I am looking forward to this next journey.

Have a fantastic day!

One excersise that helped me is to sit up with your back perfectly verticle, (make sure the lower back is straight too! Sometimes it slips and still feels like it's verticle and it's not!)

Anyways..... put your tounge on the roof of your mouth. and breathe in/out through the nose. If sitting, have your feet flat on the floor, if lying down, just make sure your back and neck are as straight as possible.

Imagine your back is a perfect pillar of light. When you inhale, breathe air in 'from your lower back' (it's hard to describe but easier done than said). When you exhale, visualize any pain as 'not light' and push it from the back and think "pain is gone, completely healed!" - with great confidence in your mind.

I hope this helps you as much as it helped me!

Zakyrus,
Thank you so much for the suggestion. My back is better in the mornings so I will try your suggestion.
