If you look at what Marie says about desk/bed position she says in order of importance you should place your bed/desk:
a. in your best direction
b. in the command position of the room
c. out of the doorway (out of the flow of chi)
Can you put your desk in the command position out of the doorway? If so, that would be your best option.
