You don't need to "feel" the tangerine, just know it's there.
Perhaps imagine that it is floating just behind your head, imagine it spinning.
The idea is to open up your awareness. When you imagine the tangerine are you more aware of what is happening in your peripheral vision? Can you notice noises that were previously undetectable? Enjoy the feeling of taking in information from all of your senses with equal priority.
And as Drew suggests, try it in lots of places. An easy way to remember to do it is to think about where you go most days, and where it would be interesting to experiment with the idea.
