Hi guys!

It is so that I have tried the tangerine technique for a while now and it works. I read more fluently and my field of vision i larger.

But there is a problem: I have no problem of getting into that state of mind but I can't really remain i that state of mind for a longer time. I is so that when I have entered that state of mind and after som blinks with my eyes I return to what it was before.

Please can somebody give me some advice on what to do?

PW,

If I understand you correctly, you are unable to have the tangerine and remain relaxed?

My advice would be use the tangerine skill away from PhotoReading books. Walk around shopping centres for as long as you can. Ride you bike using the tangerine technique.

You have already proved that you can do it. It is now I think just practice.

If it is a quiet time, just practice being relaxed.

The more your body and mind are use to doing these skills, the easier they will transfer to PhotoReading.

Thanks Drew!

So you mean that you should feel the tangerine all the time in the back of your head when I am in the relaxed state of mind.

I think Paul said that it is not needed

One more question:

Should I continue reading the book if I haven't got the relaxed state of mind (and practice it as I continue reading) or should learn that first?

What is your tips!

PW,

You'll only notice the tangerine in the beginning if you put it there and notice it. Once you've put it up there, you can choose to forget about it. You mind knows why it is there. A natural response to being in a relaxed state will actually be, that your field of vision opens up all by itself.

Practice getting into the relaxed state, then go read. If your state changes notice it. Maybe stop if you feel stressed, unhappy etc. Then come back to reading, when you can be relaxed. Being relaxed means you open up the connection more than normal that between the conscious and other than conscious mind (unconscious).

Here is the real thing. If you think you should stop...stop..if you think you can carry on...carry on. The only real expert on your PhotoReading experience is you!

You don't need to "feel" the tangerine, just know it's there.

Perhaps imagine that it is floating just behind your head, imagine it spinning.

The idea is to open up your awareness. When you imagine the tangerine are you more aware of what is happening in your peripheral vision? Can you notice noises that were previously undetectable? Enjoy the feeling of taking in information from all of your senses with equal priority.

And as Drew suggests, try it in lots of places. An easy way to remember to do it is to think about where you go most days, and where it would be interesting to experiment with the idea.

here is my experiences with the tangerine technique:

I take back my words on the enlarged vision, to state it more precise it is just little little bit more enlarged, but I read more fluently (eye-movement not so jumpy).

When I put the tangerine in the back of my head and I imagines that it is there, I somehow Tighten (make hard) the muscle just somewhere where my little brain is. Is That the right thing to do with this technique, or is it just so that you just have to relax and imagine your vison beoming enlarged?

Haven't I succeded with the tangerine technique when I read more fluently or should I also get the enlarged (more enlarged) field of vision? Is it ok for me to continue to the stages preview and photoread when I have reached this level in the technique or should I train more?

thx!

your vision doesn't actually enlarge... it is just that you should notice that by moving your point of attention from in front of you to behind of you, that you pay attention to that in your peripheral vision.

If you have the personal learning course, try using disk 7 of the course to photoread a book... Paul Scheele describes what you should be doing far better than I

The tangerine technique is for overcoming internal and external distractions. Just throw your awareness back there from time to time. Especially when you notice yourself slowing down.

One trick that works for people who are easily distracted... wear a baseball cap. Have one you use for reading. You know that it's there but you're not doing anything special to notice it there. It's really the same with the tangerine.
