PhotoWannabe,

Just dip a word or two every paragraph. You might also be superreading too fast and creating anxiety. If you've got self-talk going that says. when do I dip, am I doing it right, how will I know when to dip and similar, You are in the wrong frame of mind. You're not actually focused on reading and instead just rushing the superreading.

Try this. Pick one question, set the timer for 7 minutes and while superreading chant your question in your mind. The idea of the chant in this case is to serve as a reminder for what you want from the book.

Now with your first question how do you know where to start in the book? Check the index, check the table of content. Check the parts of the book that interested you during postview. Or you can just open the book. I still love it when I open a book to exactly the page with the answer.

Remember also to use the tangerine technique. Place your tangerine before you start superreading.

Now another point that comes to mind. If you continue to have trouble with superreading, Skitter instead. It's slower but much more effective on textbooks, books heavy in academic slanted writing, And books with only one or two paragraphs per page..

Toyy,

The dictionary game is just a game.

Just think of a word and then guess. If your experience is similar to mine. You get a bit frustrated or blank when you think of a word that's not in the dictionary. Then your amazingly cool brain is just helping to stoke your believe that you cannot do it. Which is kind of funny when you think about it. How in the world does the mind know that you will not find the word in that particular dictionary if you hadn't PhotoRead it.

If you don't know where to dip you don't know what you are looking for. Ask a question. If you don't see it getting answered rephrase it, look at the chapter heading or subheading and turn THAT into a mind probing question.
