I bought the book The PhotoReading Whole Mind System half a year ago.At first I thought to read the book as a leisure.I read the book slowly.Until recently I found from the book that I had an urge to change the way of traditional reading which is not effective to a better and new way of reading.
I am now as a student from South East Asia country which is way way too academic oriented in education and I found that the students here do not know at all any other method of reading besides stick to the conventional way of reading.I know that I seriously need a change of way of reading.
I picked up PR recently.However,my one is a translated version(chinese version) of The PhotoReading Whole Mind system.I want to list down my problems here,hope that any one with experience can help:

-Did anyone succeed in PR alone with a book alone,especially with translated version?(I only have the book,as I cannot afford any deluxe course or home study course)

-How long does it take for a person to be familiar with the PR system so that he/she
can PR non-fiction books and then transfer the PR system to school materials>

-.We need a purpose to start PR,right?How can we state our purpose so that the purpose is so strong that it is effective in PR system?How many purpose we need?Each purpose is interrelated?I just PR a book,which is Bonsai-A Care Manual by Colin Lewis.When I first saw the book,I asked myself,why should I read this book?Then i give my purpose:I want to know about Bonsai so that I can apply the techniques or knowledge I know in this field.

-About triggering words:We find triggering words during preview,right?According to the book,we take out about 25 triggering words.If there are so many triggering words in the Bonsai book,what should I do then?25 alone suffice?

-During the PR chapter in the TPRWMS,when we enter the accelerated learning state,is it necessary to pronunce the words 3,2,1 in our mind to make us more relaxed,or just simply take a deep breath,and started PR straight away when we think we are relaxed enough?

-When I PR,sometimes i do not see blip page,sometimes i see.Even if i see,the blip page is very narrow.However I do not really care about the blip page and i just simply stare in the middle of the book while flipping the book at one page per second.Am i correct?

-Activation:-Mind Probing-When we do mind probing,we do while looking at the book or without looking at the book?

-During superreading,it says that we should notice some interesting words that will
attract us and then dip for the answers.Lets say in the book that I had read just now,Since I am totally new to Bonsai,it seems that everything seems so important that I would have to read through all which of course drag me back to the traditional way of reading.

-Skittering:If a paragraph is too long,we read the beginning few sentences,then the ending of the paragraph,then read through the whole paragraph again to find related words?

-Mind-map:Do the mind map need to be coloured,if so,why?We create a mind map according to ourselves?Is there any example of mind map instead of that in the book?

This is what I do to start my PR after reading the TPRWHS(I think there are indeed quite a lot information need to be noted in the book)

1.Get the book-Bonsai,A care manual
2.State the purpose:I would like to study bonsai so that i can apply the knowledge and skills on the field.(I think that perhaps I do not state a STRONG purpose?)
3.Tangerine effect.
4.Preview(Flip through the books,find trigger words.Btw,how do we know if a word is a trigger word?)I actually spend about 12 minutes,although I limit myself at 8 minutes,but when I flip through to see pictures 11 minuted already gone
5.PR(At first i do not see blip page,after a while i see,but it disappears again after a
while,I do not care,I continue to read then the blip page begins to rise,but very very narrow)
6.End PR with self-confirmation.
7I do not do postview.
8.Waiting for incubation,which is until tomorrow,then afterwards activation.

I think i will not go for activation until the front part is solved.I think there is some problem with the 5-day lesson on the book.My book is roughly like this:

Day 1-Choose a book-prepare-PR
Day 2-Choose a book-2 minutes preview-PR-Write trigger words and the question that I would like to ask-15-20 minutes postview.
Day 3-Prepare-PR-Superread-Dip-End in 30 minutes-Do not care about the concious comprehension-See the trigger words for the last time.
Day 4-Prepare-PR-Time left used to superread,dip,or skittering through whole book(What does it mean skittering the whole book anyway?It should take a long time right?)
Day 5-Prepare-PR-Look at index page-turn to the place where you want to know more-superread/dip/skittering-no questions in mind-rapid reading.
10 minutes for mind-map,need not be in detail

Are those steps in 5-day lesson correct?My book is translated version,I do not sure that I got it correct or not.

I understand that PR on non-technical books first are essential before PR school materials as told by photoread4me umpteen times,especially to students like me.

So I started PR on a book that has nothing to do with my school work.I sincerely hope for help from people like raleigh,Alex,photoread4me or any other experienced PRer which can kindly help me.

I am now having major exam right now,so I list out the problems I am having now(perhaps there are more questions I want to ask but I forgot)

I apologise in advance for posting such a long-winded post.

From my understanding the Chinese translation is poor. If your English reading skills are as good as your written skills I suggest using the English version of the book.

Once you've satisfied yourself that you can use the system on 3 or 4 non-fiction books not related to schoolwork you can start using it on textbooks as you would then know what should be happening.

Purpose -imagine yourself using the information you are seeking in the book and in that you will find a powerful purpose.

No more than 25 trigger words are required. Trigger words are just to give you a starting point and building curiosity for the book to help with activation.

Learn to enter the Accelerated Learning State as instructed first. It creates the trigger that allows you to use short cuts later.

Photofocus. Without the blip use the imaginary X-technique.

Start forming mind probing questions during postview.

Check your mind probing question and focus on getting answers to that when superreading and dipping. Keep it relevant to that.

12 minutes for preview? Too long! From now on you only get 90 seconds for preview, find the trigger words during postview. (there you may spend 12 minutes.)

Skittering, read the first sentence, skitter the paragraph for relevant words and phrases that build the understanding that relates to the first sentence and if it's still not clear read the last sentence.

Colour enhances the visual memory that's why it's best to use at least 4 colours in mind mapping. Search the web there are lots of examples of mind maps.

Thanks for your reply.If I use the english translated version of the book will I master PR more efficiently than the translated version?

P/S:

I cannot afford the course and seminar as they are both too expensive.

Is there any seminar about PR at South East Asia,never quite heard of it.

I've been told that the Original English text still has some important information that was cut from the Chinese version. People have successfully learned with the English version. They have seriously struggled with the Chinese versions.
