Why is change difficult?

Hello everyone. I am new to the board and have been reading some of the posts. I have a very unique background mainly because I am a curious and intelligent person who can get bored with the “norm”.

One thing I noticed is a reoccurring theme with many posts and that is difficulties with change. Examples to this are, “It has taken me months to change this habit.”, Or, “The habit changed but now it is back. Is something wrong?”. You get the idea.

I thought I would take a moment to explain what is happening. but first I will give a little background on myself. I have been studying “Success” and how to achieve it for over 20 years (trust me it is a journey NOT a destination). I am a certified hypnotist, and have personally struggled with many “difficulties in my life.” Nothing serious and noticeable such as being a cripple, having a debilitating disease, or anything of that nature, just a long bout of feeling like I was worthless, a loser, and taking up space on this earth. Oddly enough my stepfather would always say I was a worthless piece of dung while I was growing up so maybe that wasn't a coincidence . I am a smart Alex so please bear with me.

I have had some very difficult times but that is long in the past now. Now it is about fine tuning my life and that is an awesome position to be in. I hope I can be an inspiration to others who are struggling.

Essentially change is difficult because we have to deal with this innate biological program called “homeostasis”. No this doesn’t mean that we are all gay , it’s definition is “an innate drive to stay the same”. It is a good thing and a bad thing it just depends on how you look at it and how you handle it. You can bypass it but you have to understand it, and above all be patient.

This addresses the question of “why did it work so quickly for this person but not me?”. Homeostasis is basically like climate control in your house or car. You set it at a temperature and if it gets above or below that temperature either the heat will come on or the air conditioner depending on the circumstance. This is why some seemingly successful people self-sabotage, or why it is so difficulty to become wealthy etc.

Whatever image we have of ourselves in our subconscious is evident with our results in life. This is what Paraliminals try to tackle and does a pretty good job of.

Now it is said by many scientists that our subconscious is responsible for around 90% of our actions, habits, likes, dislikes, etc. What is the color of the last two cars you purchased? What kind of cloths do you often buy? How do you fix your hair and how long have you done it this way? These are subconscious habits. Have you ever spent a small fortune on having your hair done (Donald Trump is exempt from this question )a certain way to only see it back the same way only a few days later? Homeostasis!

So why does change come so easily for one person but not another and they are using the same exact method such as a Paraliminal CD?

Well ………

If people are interested I will answer this question in a future post (in a couple of days). I figured this would be a great way to introduce myself .

"You can never tell what type of impact you may make on another’s life by your actions or lack of action. Sometimes just with a smile on the street to a passing stranger can make a difference we could never imagine."

Nice informative post there! It was a good read. Welcome you to the board, too!

I'm interested in that explanation for varying rates of change too - go for it!

Ditto for me: very interested in the "rest of the story"!

I just recently brought up the concept of homeostasis and homeostats in another topic here, so this is certainly synchronistic for me. And I know I am somone who is on the journey of change and self-improvement, yet I am often in awe and wonder at my resistance to change.

Thanks for starting this thread.

The introduction of homeostasis was very good, and I too, am looking forward to more.

In addition to homeostasis, I think an additional clue to the resistance shakurav is referring to (great way of putting that, by the way ) lies in the realm of Quantum Mechanics. All thoughts, emotions (and all of everything) are vibrations. When you focus on particular kinds of thoughts they vibrate at frequencies and attract or group with other "like" thoughts in those particular frequencies. The principle is the same as if you are listening to a radio station at 102.7, you can't listen to 92.3 at the same time on the same radio. If you are focusing on thoughts of "the way things are" or "the way things always have been", you can't "be" at another place (where you want to be), and furthermore, because of the attraction or grouping principal, those thoughts will become stronger or more dominant in your psyche. (The same principle is at work in the "collective consciousness".)

That's why meditation and paraliminals are so important. Meditation helps us slow down the thinking process, so we can monitor our thoughts, reducing and eliminating the thoughts we don't want, replacing them with thoughts (and emotions) we do want. That's where the paraliminals come in. They help provide us with the thoughts we do want, using a technology that enhances the process. They help us "feel" better, raising the frequency of our emotional vibrations (vibes) and our "self talk" becomes "positive" (higher frequency vibes). From a biological point of view, the connections in our brain physically change over time, creating a new point of homeostasis...one we can live with. "Living the Law of Attraction" is a great paraliminal that even further enhances the process.

Wow. Talk about a great way of putting things. This makes so much sense and I know this must be so. I like the radio station analogy a lot.

And is your name from the wonderful masters of music by the same name? Or does it have some other more personal meaning?

Just curious.

Thank you for this post.

Hi Forexp and GentleG,

Very veery interesting posts!

I myself would be also interested how to make change happen, not only why is it so-and-so. In my life I have noticed knowing why does not always imply change.

Waiting for more posts in this thread... ;-)

GentleGiant,

Thanks for that explanation, it seems to have done a better job than The Secret DVD. Although the DVD did briefly focus on the frequency thing you referred to, from the way things were worded, I got the impression that this 'Law of Attraction' was some demi-godly force bringing what we want. Naturally, I was very skeptical and greatly surprised to see the numerous people supporting the production.
Now that you mention it's simply like frequencies attracting each other, it makes much more sense to an analytical mind like mine.

Was it just me, or did anyone else get the same incorrect impression as I did from the DVD?

Thanks for this detailed message.

It would also be interesting to consider what can be done to make change easy and fun!
