I`m quite new to Small Universe Meditation. I find it difficult to visualize my energy going smooth and systematic in that exercise. It`s like resistance.
Is there anyone that has had same experiences and progressed with better exercise after some time?

Is Qi Gong really to be pronounced CHEE KUNG? I have thought CHEE GONG.

Hi John,
I haven't had the experience you speak of, but I would like to offer that it is best to just keep practicing, relax, and come to each session without any preset expectation, or notion of what it should be. If you follow the teaching, everything is fine. You don't start out in any meditation technique, and experience it as the ultimate example of what it is. You are starting a journey of transformation and opening. You start wherever you are, and the process takes care of itself. Your experience will change over time. Not from wrong to right. It is good as soon as you engage, at any level. Try to remove any tension in your alignments. The smile is great for that.

Qigong is pronouced CHEE GONG. This is closest. Many people say chi kung.
Same for kung fu and gung fu. The Chinese character is the same in both, and is pronounced gong( same say more like gung). Gong is closest to the actual Chinese pronunciation. Sometimes, differences in terms and pronouncing them stem from Cantonese vs Mandarin words, and then shifting that to English. The character 'gong', depicts a carpenter's square(pictographically), and represents work or work/skill. The larger qigong associations as well as SFQ, use 'gong', and 'qi' / qigong. I believe things will eventually standardize to this.

Hi

Yes, the technique and improvements will come with time I guess. As it has for Lin. It`s me trying to make it perfect (too soon).
I practise Qi Gong 1 to 1,5 hours each day and I`m very happy that I see it just as a lifestyle, little stress about doing it :-)
What`s a bit hard is pressing yourself for a better sitting position. I`m far away (I think) from full Lotus position. I haven`t reached semi-position yet, I will go for reaching that position for 1 hour in the coming time soon (I started SFQ in April and free style position in June). I was empty of Omega 3 capsles for one week, that sure made the sitting meditation remarkably more painful (seal-oil is best for the bones).
I think it`s important to press yourself to sit best longest possible, but not if it makes too much tensions.

I`m not sure, I think I value the active exercises more than sitting meditation (Along I also use headphones with brain synchronization technique).

Thank you very much for taking interest and information
John

I can relate to the struggle. Small Universe can be a challenge. I have been doing the 1 hour version mostly lately. I still do the half hour version sometimes and I even will sometimes either with or without the recording, do just a few cycles (either when I miss a "full" practice session or to give me a "booster shot" during the day.

I had a big breakthrough yesterday with SU: I have sometimes gotten through the shorter version without losing my place (after the Master Lin's coaching stops--he does 3 cycles with coaching and then says, "Now do the rest by yourself"), but rarely. Never with the one hour version. With that one, I either "doze" or just lose my place multiple times. Sometimes as many as 5 or 6 or maybe more, but never less than 3 or 4.

Until yesterday morning's meditation!

I did lose my place one time (more than halfway through!), but quickly found my way back (I somehow was at the spinal cord, when the lower tantien "om" was sounding. Don't know if I skipped ahead or actually lost a bunch of breaths. I think I would prefer the latter because it would mean I was so lost in the meditation -or maybe the emptiness- that I lost some time. Which I like, actually!). And then for the rest of the meditation, I was right on the energy center for every one. It was kind of like riding a horse or some other kind of natural "flow" sport (sailing which I have done or maybe surfing, which I have never done).

And when the hour was up, it did not feel at ALL like an hour! It felt very good and very short and I could feel a bunch of blockages unblock. That was my best sitting Small Universe ever and I know it was a result of much practice with it without giving up (and a lot of sessions where sometimes struggled the whole way with stray thoughts, fidgeting, losing my place, dozing etc. A LOT! MANY!).

Now, I must add here that this is all on top of a three week period following my participation in the recent Triple Fortune weekend with Paul Scheele, Marie Diamond and Chunyi Lin. I had a remarkable healing experience there that I intend to share in another post in a topic I will start. Meeting Master Lin, experiencing this remarkable healing and a lot of the learning that I experienced that weekend has given me a HUGE supercharge of motivation, momentum and inspiration and I am sure that has something to do with what I feel was a breakthrough.

I also helped someone with a qigong healing for my very first time a few days ago. More on that also in a future post in thread of its own (or related one).

But boosts or now boosts, I feel fairly certain, that this is like anything else : with practice comes results. Because it is "passive" (although there is a lot of activity going on inside), it is not the same kind of results one gets from doing more on the outside. And it can be more subtle. And therefore less "inspiring" sometimes.

But I am convinced that as Master Lin says, the most important Qigong work really does come from the meditations. Don't get me wrong: the Active Exercise is VITAL for most of us for much of our development (depending on condition, blockages, previous energy work etc) in order to get the powerful results from the meditations. But after practicing SFQ now for almost 2 years, I can tell you the powerful 1-2 punch of SFQ is in the strong relationship between the Active Exercise and the meditation, most importanly, the Small Universe.

I encourage to keep doing it. Do as much as you can as many times as you can. One of the coaches at the SFQ Center told me "even 1 or 2 cycles (i.e. 10 minutes or less), will produce results". I love this advice, and it has helped me maintain consistancy and momentum over a period of time. At one point, I had cut up some mp3's of the SU recordings (both with and without coaching) into small segments (3 minutes and 10 minutes, as well as a 48 minute version that I used that had only the om's and mo's without coaching or ending). I had that on an old mp3 player that I no longer use. I might still use these with my iPod (where I have almost all of my SFQ materials now). But I have gottent to a point that I can do at least 3-10 cycles without any recording, music or coaching. I sometimes will "play" Master Lin's voice in my head for those sessions.

You might also try doing it standing up in a posture (could be "holding the ball" or even "Forming of Yin and Yang") right after doing the Active Exercise. I found a lot of good, strong results with this early in my SFQ practice. I was more used to doing standing meditation because of Zhang Zhuan qigong standing from my Tai Chi and Bagua practice from years before. And like you, I had trouble with good sitting postures (right now, I am in a kind of modified half-lotus which has one leg fully on my thigh and the other (my right foot), kind of tucked up into the left leg, so it is almost a full lotus. It hurts a bit when I am done, but I feel good while sitting in it).

One of my early Small Universe Meditations was an hour long session while standing. Though I might have lost my place a few times, it was fewer at that point than while sitting. Less tendency to doze (for me). I also had a BIG release of energy during that session where I shook uncontrollably and cried like a baby (it actually felt quite good and I was prepared by many of the remarks of Master Lin, plus some previous experiences with such energy release).

Standing allows energy to flow freely (as probably lying down does as well, but that can lend itself to falling asleep) and can easlly follow the Active Exercise (it flows directly from the Active Exercise).

And since Master Lin gives "permission" (one of the things I really like about SFQ is how "permissive" or flexible it is. For me, that has been a real motivator in keeping up my practice), to do it "sitting, standing or lying down", I think for many people, standing at a certain level might be valuable. I know it was for me. Maybe it will be for you.

The most important thing, is to quote my wife's Tae Kwon Do teacher of years ago (he is now deceased), a Master Kim of the DC area, "Remember important Winston Churchill one word saying: 'DON'T GIVE UP!' " It is possible that in Korean, this was one word. In any case, I like the way he put it and the way my wife tells it.

Don't give up! Keep meditating! You WILL experience results.

Thank you a lot for your writing.

I can say that I just do my best and am not able to discuss in the same details as you since I struggle as I have written..
I don`t even know the difference of 30 min and 1 hour version. I guess 30 min version is one sirculation for the energy to go around the whole body.
And I have never done Self Concentration meditation, except during Telephone Healing Sessions

I don`t know how to feel unblocks in my body and I do the breathing too fast. I can feel major differences in the body if I hold the breath, it feels like locking the energy out from the universe, noticing that I see as a positive developement.
I also have had some 1 hour meditations where it has went much faster than other times. Having no pain is important, as mentioned using Omega 3 oil (seal) I think helps alot, so I can press myself in better position. I tried semi-Lotus yesterday, my legs shaked 30 - 40 min, then I quit it. But it wasn`t that painful, because of Omega 3 I think.

Standing meditation I find odd, but I will try it after a while.

The difference for me is that I don`t do the "om" sounding. I don`t know how important this is. The reason is because I have Holosync meditation sound (headphones) during the practise. Something I like very much.

Some more things;

Less consumption of alcohol helps alot. I have heard that drinking alcohol locks the body for the spiritual world. I have decreased alcohol and I don`t think it`s so good anymore.

What does it cost to participate in a retreat / seminar with Chunuy Lin?

I have ordered Feng Shui, and will begin exploring that quite soon, hope it`s as good as the testimonials.

Do you know which Master Chunuy Lin is using?

Is there anyone that has read his book Born a Healer? Is it worth to use money on and read?

I have Level 2, but have no people to practise with. Something that perhaps is too early anyway.
It`s interesting stuff all this, I think it`s very interesting to discuss SFQ and hopefully Feng Shui too.

Sometimes I think to myself that practising may be waste of time, almost everybody else is not doing things like this and a lot of people still have a lot of energy and are happy. But I guess that the rewards of doing it takes time, like with Lin. And keeping up with it in times like that is a major key.

That is all any of us really do: we work on our best. I too continue to struggle. I do not "see" energy when I do Small Universe. I am just now beginning to get a glimpse, a hint, a mere shadow of FEELING the energy moving as I go from energy center to energy center in my body during the Small Universe. It took a long time (almost two years), but I feel it is worth it, because now, I am experiencing some healing in some important areas in my life, physically, mentally, spiritually, emotionally, and professionally. I do admit that my previous experience with qigong and Tai Chi helped, but still it has been a struggle. I now think that those struggles were GOOD signs! In other words, try that: see the resistance as a sign that you are on the right track. You are hitting a blockage. And that means some part of you now knows where it is. Take that as a good sign and see what happens.

Okay, this is the easiest of the questions. You ask good ones! If you have the home study course of Level I, on the last tape/CD (Tape/CD # 6) there are two tracks:
1) Sitting Meditation- This is the 30 Minute version (and the first one most people who do SU ever do, it is better to start with smaller units and work one's way up to an hour) of the Small Universe
2) Self Concentration - this is the guided meditation that is very similar to what you heard on the Telephone Healing Session. In other words, you have a healing session with Master Lin whenever you want it, by playing this tape while you lie down, sit or stand.

The one hour version is a CD case with a blue cover and I think comes with the LEvel II course or maybe the Deluxe course (i.e. when you get Level I & II together). It says "SMALL UNIVERSE". I think it is only one track and plays for an hour. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND either using the tape 6 from level I while you are having this struggle

OR

Using the longer tape/CD, but setting a timer to a shorter time. Even maybe only 10-20 minutes. Then do the ending stuff (e.g. focusing on the lower tantien, breathing 3x, rubbing your face etc).

OR

Making an mp3 of whatever you have and editing custom lengths of the meditation for yourself.

I did this at the beginning and it was VERY helpful for me. Your mileage may vary...

Well, this can help a lot with some of the issues and struggles you mention. You asked about the Faith and Confidence Paraliminal in a different topic. Well, the SFQ Paraliminals are my favorite ones of the 25 plus Paraliminals that I now own. Even I got nothing out of the others, I would still want these two! And one reason is that the guided meditations by Master Lin are very good and the Self-Concentration meditation that you already have on tape/CD is a very good one. In other words, you can have a "Telephone healing" whenever you want...only WITHOUT THE PHONE!

YES! This is a positive development. Because you then become aware of that and then avoid holding your breath.

This is going to be somewhat different for different people, but I can tell you some "signs" or symptoms that happen to me (and these have been confirmed by a local qigong teacher and also Master Lin talks about some of these):

Cracking in certain parts of the body, with little or no movement.

Gas escaping for no apparent reason.

Excess yawning

rashes

twitches in stranges places and sometimes these twitches or spasms move around (or even jump around. For example, last night I had one in my left leg and then it either jumped or added one in my right side of my stomach_

Need to urinate more than usual (I have a lot of this "diauretic effect" from both Tai Chi and qigong).

A laxative effect

heat or cold in different parts of the body, either in very very localized places (for example, only a few fingers, or only in one hand, but not the other, etc) and sometimes moving around and changing.

Tingling sensations. I get these in my hands sometimes while practicing.

Sponteneous movements-- can be feeling of needing to turn the whole body in a different direction or twitches (see above) or some other movements, jerks, etc.

Also, any strange discomforts can be signs of energy moving around, because of the energy blockage.

Either a kind of surge of feeling more awake suddenly or a sudden fatigue both can be signs (for me) of energy moving.
Those are some possible signs that I have experienced. That does not mean that you should, would or need to look for these. You may have less or more blockages and it could manifest differently.

IMPORTANT NOTE: I do NOT ever have visualizations of the energy while doing SMALL UNIVERSE. Don't know if I ever will or need to. I focus on trying to "feel" where the energy is going. All you have to do is think of or feel the spot you are moving the energy to. In other words, if you are moving it to the spinal cord or the top of your head, you merely think or feel that part. The intention should be to move it from the last part to that part and then to imagine or think or feel or pretend that there is universal energy and Master's energy (could be whatever you think of as "your Master" e.g. nature, the universe, energy, Spirit, love, Master Lin, a teacher you respect, a grandparent or great-grandparent or other ancestor, God, Krishna, Jesus, or just "healing power" or "Infinite Intelligence" or whatever) flowing into that the new spot as you inhale, "mixing" with your own personal energy (received from food, air, water, sleep, etc) and your genetic energy (i.e. what you were born with--that does not change. It is your "genetic" or "DNA" energy, as it were).

THERE DOES NOT HAVE TO BE ANY VISUAL with this. It can help to "pretend" or imagine that there is a color or light or sound or vibration or whatever you want tha makes it more palpable. I.e. give it more "weight". But even without this, if you just think or feel the spot, you are in FACT, moving energy. Thought is energy. So unless, you cannot think of a body part on your body or you are numb, you are moving energy. You just have not yet become aware of the benefit or results. But whether you "see" something or not, my friend, it is happening. This is scientific fact. Whether it heals or helps in some other way or not, that might be something up for conjecture. But thought is in fact, energy, and our body has electrical currents moving through. When you think of you big toe, whether you like it or not, energy is going there. Now.

In fact, I urge you: right now, DON'T THINK ABOUT YOUR BIG TOE ON YOUR LEFT FOOT! WHATEVER YOU DO, JUST DON'T THINK ABOUT IT! And guess what, if you read that sentence, it is almost certain, that if you understood the meaning (I understand English is not your native language), energy is going to your left big toe.

There is no rocket science or "mystical" secret to at least this level of practice. It is merely a) doing it regularly and b) simply focusing on those part of the body as you go around. Period. Forget about "seeing" or even "perceiving" the energy. It is happening and as you do it more and more, you may indeed begin to have some kind of perceptions. But even if you don't you will get some results AFTER you stop the session (healing, insight, inspiration, interesting dreams, cool coincidences, etc).

Quite often with acupuncture, for example, people do NOT experience ANYTHING during the session while the needles are in. However, with many of those same people (not all), they DO have a healing an hour or a few hours or the next day after the session. My wife in her very first acupuncture session experienced this (and she was both skeptical and afraid). She has terrible asthma and allergies. We both had a very bad flu or cold. She could not breathe. We went to a great acupuncturist here in our county.

I had was cleared up right away, but mine came back the next day and then completely gone the day after (much quicker than those other who had this flu). My wife, had NO effect during or after the session, but the next day, she could breathe easily and the flu was completely gone!

John, you may do SU for ten years and NEVER know anything is happening during the session. It is possible, (but unlikely). However, I would be willing to wager good money and give odds that you will have incredible healing in your life in various areas (relationship, energy, discomfort or disease, prosperity, etc) if you did such practice.

That is good to know. I just began taking Omega 3 fish oil tablets (a high end product). I have been taking FLax Seed because I am a vegan, but it was highly recommended to me to begin fish oils. I have a little more problem with seal oil, because I am an observant Jew (and a rabbi!) and that would be a reach for me because seals are not kosher to eat for Jewish people (only for observant Jews. There is nothing wrong with it from the Jewish perspective for non-Jews. In other words, for us at least, it has nothing to do with morality. It is simply a way to "bless" our food or make it a spiritual experience). But I do need something because I do have a lot of pain in my ankles when i am done with my sitting.

Quote:

Standing meditation I find odd, but I will try it after a while.

Yes, try this. It is very good, especially if you use are NOT using the OM tape/CD etc. Standing meditation is a VERY tried and true method in kung fu, Tai Chi, and many many qigong circles and schools. At one point in my life, mostly during the 90's, I was ONLY doing standing meditation. I would sometimes do one hour or more of standing in various postures. I often had INCREDIBLE results from this that I had not every experienced from sitting meditation. Since Chunyi Lin says about all of the SFQ forms, that we can do them sitting, standing or lying down, it is REALLY helpful to experiment with which ones work best for you at his level.

I also sometimes do Small Universe (as well as the other meditations, e.g. Chunyin Lin's BUTTERFLY HEALING MEDITATION, which I don't think LSC sells, but the SFQ Center does) lying down with some at least good results. I sometimes do this when I am sick or fatigued.

And what's this "after a while?!? What, you are going to do it as a "New Year's resolution"?

I think you may misunderstand what I mean. All I mean is, right after you do your active exercise, while you are still standing (but before you do the "harvesting qi" with cupping and rubbing the ears etc), just stand in the same place for like 5-10 minutes more. That's all. And while standing there (either with your hands in the "Beginning" posture, or with "Forming of Yin and Yang" or "holding the ball" --the same ball you hold in SFQ-- just move the energy around the Small Universe. You know the centers right? Just lower tantien, bladder, bottom, tailbone, lower back, kidney area, spinal cord in neck, base of head, top of head, third eye position, throat, heart and back to lower tantien.

Do it once. Or twice. Or if you want, do it for a half hour or an hour--if you can stand that long. I used to do this a lot, as I mentioned, but if you never practiced this, it might be hard-at the begining-- on your legs. That's why I recommend trying it for a short time. Then your "after a while" can kick in and you can do longer periods. But for now, this is simply a way where you will have less pain or discomfort while doing SU. And you are already doing the "strange" part: when you do the active execise you are either visualizing the energy column or the energy going in an out of your body during the "Breathing of the Universe". Guess what? That is "standing meditation". Only with more movement on the "outside". The only difference is SU is only moving on the "inside". And as I say above, there is nothing "big" about this moving the energy. using imagination is only a tool or helper. You can do ALL of the SFQ without the imagination, it just is more powerful WITH this tool. If you do SU standing, and move the energy by thinking of the body part as you breathe, you will be moving inside.

The difference for me is that I don`t do the "om" sounding. I don`t know how important this is. The reason is because I have Holosync meditation sound (headphones) during the practise. Something I like very much.

Well, for what it's worth (and free advice is always worth at least what you pay for it! ), I think that that is a more "advanced" level of doing Small Universe. At the level of having struggles, it is HIGHLY recommended and important to use the coaching/OM's and MO's tape/CD. At least, UNTIL YOU ARE REALLY COMFORTABLE WITH IT AND HAVE LESS STRUGGLES!

I do Holosync and think they are great products. But in the spectrum of "good, better, best", I think doing Holosync WITH Small Universe, is probably okay or good (rather than not doing it at all), but MUCH better, would be to do SU WITH the coaching tape/CD and the chanting by the teacher. And do Holosync separately.

Important note: You do not have to do any chanting yourself. I had a misunderstanding of this at the beginning and again recently when I read that if doing without the Tape/CD, one should chant the OM and MO on the inhale of each body center. Well, that seemed really difficult! But that just basically means "on the inside". In other words, just "thinking" the sounds or what some people call "chanting subvocally". I kind of sensed that because try chanting OM while you inhale! When I do it it sounds like I am gasping and maybe dying!

So the OM's and the MO's are just to help you with the breathing. And to give you a vibration to move the energy around with. And one thing I learned from people here on this forum, is the breathing does not have to be perfectly in sync with the beginning of the sound or Master Lin saying, "Inhale" or "exhale". It is kind of more playing with it, and your breathing easily and gently. Do not force anything. Just try to use the tape as a "pacer".

You mention breathing too fast. The breathing should be slow and deep, but not to a point where you find it uncomfortable. Just move the energy and breath as naturally and slowly as possible without it seeming "forced".

As you practice, your breathing will slow down automatically. It probably already is happening, but you don't know it. Another good reason to use the tape. It acts as a "beat" for you to gauge how much improvement you are making with slowing down your breathing.
For example, now, I find the pace of the CD too fast! I am slower than it is, but in the beginning it was often the other way around. I was too fast, and the CD was too slow.

Just set an intention, say " my breathing is slowing down, naturally and easily" and then let it go. It will happen. The OM's and MO's act as "wave" that you "surf" or "float" or "ride" on. They are not meant to be exact pinpoints of when you breathe. If you need to take breaths in between, then do so, until it is easy for you to slow down you breathing.

On the other hand, if you are already getting some great healing with the Holosync, you could either
a) just use that and forget about Small Universe or
b) continue to try and move the energy around without the sounds or coaching while listening to the Holosync. You can do this while standing (see above. I have done Holosync while doing standing meditation and it works great!).
Or alternate: do it with Holosync on one day and the next try it without. Make notes of what happens.

However, I still think the best way based on what you are saying is to, for now, do Holosync as a separate practice and practice Small Universe even for 10-30 minutes a few times a week, at least, and do it with one of the coaching tapes/CD's as I described above (or a trimmed mp3 version).

I think this varies with the retreat seminar. The Triple Fortune seminar that I attended a few weeks ago here in San Francisco, cost about $500 for the weekend, but that did not cover the hotel or meals. But I found it more than worth it. I am sure that longer retreats cost more, but I can't wait to go to one. The problem for me, is I am a rabbi and the retreat that i want to go to is usually during my High Holy Days! But I hope to do this some year. It is a goal of mine.

Don't know much about Feng Shui. I am just "getting my feet wet" in that study now. I use it as part of the Sonic Access set and I saw Marie Diamond as part of Triple Fortune and learned something from her. I cannot really comment much, except to say that it seems to help a lot of people and some very successful people too.

No. I don't. Maybe someone else does?

I have this book, and I am reading it now for my second time. It is well worth the money and is becoming one of my most important books. I use it in sermons and talk about it a lot. I am reading the testimonials in the back (which I skipped for some reason the first time I read the book. And those alone are worth the price of the book, IMHO. However, PM me and I can give you a more detailed feedback.

I have Level 2, but have no people to practise with. Something that perhaps is too early anyway.
It`s interesting stuff all this, I think it`s very interesting to discuss SFQ and hopefully Feng Shui too.

I too have Level 2 and have barely scratched the surface of it. I think I am only just now beginning to be ready to really study this Level. I have had it for 2 years (got it with Level I as part of the Deluxe package here), and like you, just felt not read yet. But now, it seems to be the time. As I shared in that other topic, I had an opportunity to practice and it worked! And now, another more serious case has come up-- someone with Lyme disease. I have told the family that I am only learning and practicing, but they have nothing to lose and there is no harm done, so I look forward to doing this. As Shawn said in that other topic, you never know where opportunities may come. You can also practice on yourself.

If you have animals or have friends who have animals, you can also practice on them. I practice on my cats! One of them seems to like it a lot! He purrrs as if I am touching him and his fur stands up on end like there is excess static electricity. It is pretty cool. But that was only after a few sessions. He has a slight breathing problem, and I don't know if it is helping him, but he seems to like it and it helps me. So...no harm, no foul!

Sometimes I think to myself that practising may be waste of time, almost everybody else is not doing things like this and a lot of people still have a lot of energy and are happy. I know that feeling as well. "Almost everybody else" also never invented great things, write books, make movies, play and compose music etc. I try not to judge my stuff based on what "most people do", but rather on what I need to do. I do not judge, "everybody else" as good or bad, but I will not run my life based on what they do or don't do. And one teacher I have quotes the mother of a childhood friend of his. She said: " The only really happy people I know are people I don't know very well!" This was said ironically, meaning that what we see on the outside is usually not a tru measure of how happy they are. And people we know really well, are not often much happier than we are.

And having energy is relative. Most people also have a lot less energy and are NOT as happy as they age or have later age related medical problems. As a rabbi, I see a lot of these. Time spent now working on SFQ can potentially be a "retirement account" for later.
Also, life is getting more and more complicated. And it is not going to get simpler anytime soon. And finally, the world needs this, not just us. Health care costs and results are not getting much better. We do have better medicine than we have ever had before and many things can be taken care of, but at great cost to the health care system or the individual or the health care provider. And there are side effects and time lost and sometimes they don't work.

This is something that is tried and true and as you say, with practice comes results. I forgot: how long have you been going SFQ now? If it is already over a year, than I still say keep practicing to get more out of your already serious investment. But if not yet a year, than I venture to say that you are in for a treat!

And I can tell you with what little experience I have (compared to Master Lin or even some of his senior students) that the Small Universe and sitting meditations is "where the rubber meets the road" as we say here in the US. This is where the most important qigong work is done. The active exercise is so important, and it lays the groundwork for the even more important sitting (or standing or lying down) meditations.

So in conclusion:

Keep doing it.
Do shorter sets of it
Try it standing and lying down
Do it with the SMALL UNIVERSE or Sitting meditation tape/CD
Do Holosync separately until you master doing the SU with the tape/CD
Forget about "experiencing", visualizing or feeling the energy while you move it around the Small Universe. Probably that will come, but even if it does not, I think you will be very pleased with your results. Especially, if you give yourself some breaks and do the SU while lying down or standing, which will take away at least one distraction for the beginning levels.

Anyway, for what all that's worth.

I know I need to do about 4 hours right now of SFQ to get rid of this migraine, but I was inspired to write you first. I hope it helps.

All the best!

Steve

Thank you for your sharing of knowledge.

I started practising SFQ regularly in the Easter. I`m not able to maintain it every single day, especially not the Active Exercises, but almost every day.
I will try out the SU cd, both standing and sitting. I have noticed that it was easier to feel the energy in the specific places when doing the 'OM' sound.
It`s interesting to read what you think of Holosync. I`m to begin on Awakening Level 4 these days. There`s great testimonials and they speak highly of it themselves. Bill almost promise golden years if you 'just' put on the headphones. I can say that when I started doing SFQ it took me to new levels and his talk makes more sense. In June I started sitting in Freestyle position. It`s strange that that program doesn`t say specifically that you should sit in that position or better (though I see why). Because I don`t think some headphones can take all the credit for a persons positive development. Bill speaks about his transformation and that it really began when he started using Holosync (before he had meditated for 16 years), but I assume he has been doing Lotus position or something for many years in his progress.
If that`s the case I think the company really should point out the importance of sitting correctly (they vaguely mention it).

Otherwise it`s also interesting to read about Feng Shui and it`s a bit scary to read what the program says about the influence energy in rooms have on us. I`m sure bad Feng Shui around myself has set me back some.

Two more things, which thoughts do you have about nutrition?
I`m about to start reading a book called The Ph Miracle. I know for sure that alcohol is negative, but never imagined it in such a big way as it now seems like.
Taoism says a lot about Ph and food (an own direction in Taoism).

There`s a saying from them,
'When you do Outer exercises
you also should do Inner exercises.
When you do Inner exercises
you may forget about doing Outer exercises'

You have studied and done Tai Chi and some more. What the taoists actually are saying is that practising Soccer, running etc (that require movement) harm the body and draining it for energy.
The saying can also correlate to our discussion about what`s most important, Active Exercises or Meditation (or both).
