A good book to read on anger, I think, could be Destructive Emotions. They talk a lot about different emotions and thoughts that create a beneficial environment in the body and mind.
Quite possibly a cure for anger could be compassion. I am sure that getting over the immediate response that creates a powerful and resilient brain chemistry in which many reasonable thoughts are impossible is a big hurdle.
Have you tried cycling through the 3 perceptual positions with a friend or therapist helping you control your states? Take someone or something that makes you angry and go through the positions over and over until it's almost impossible for you to be made about the issue anymore. I have found that this is not only helpful with anger, but creates a lot of other improvements, too.
You'll want to do it with the presupposition about positive intentions fully in mind. That is, while behavior may not seem to exhibit it, the intention behind the behavior is always positive. It's just that everyone isn't in a state of mind or system of beliefs that allows the positive expression of that intent.
