The course is fantastic. Pete, it is everything you said it was and much, much.
I could never quite grasp "in the moment". Now I'm really beginning to experience it and this is only week 3.
Thanks.

Aloha. Any chance of imbedding track identifiers (ie Track 1 Questions & Answers; Track 2 Meditation) into the MP3 download thus enabling going directly to the meditation for repeat listening? Best wishes to all for a conscious journey. Aloha....

Hi Pete,

A friend of mine received your e-mail about Jeddah (and signed up for her course) and said I'd enjoy reading what you wrote, yet she cannot find it to forward to me. Is there any way I can get a copy of that?

Thanks.

Jacktuff13 has offered this advise on the PhotoReading forum it will probably help anyone wanting to get started. I suggest trying it just before you listen to the mediation. I quote Jack below

Quote:

When you first close your eyes, take a deep breath in, and hold it. Don't let it out yet. First, try to feel five heartbeats, without putting your hands against your chest. Just feel your heart beating against the inside of your body, 5 times. Then let it out, slowly, letting out all tensions and stresses that you have. Do this multiple times.

Then start your meditation.

RE: Sensations in body. I have no difficulty with this, but I wonder if those feeling troubled about it might be overlooking sensations that we take for granted.

Rather than worry about getting the mind quiet first, maybe you can try just letting your attention sink down into the body. Use imagination to do this. Imagine attention traveling down out of the head, and sinking deeper and deeper through the throat and into the chest. Lowering the chin can help with this. As suggested in Alex's quote see if you can feel your heart beat. Then see if you notice tingling anywhere in the body -- feet, hands, arms, anywhere. Or if you think you notice an increase in temperature at any point on your torso. Once you begin to notice signs like these, the sensations themselves become more evident. With a little practice you'll be able to detect clear changes in the bodily sensations for the different signature patterns.

RE: Random intruding thoughts. There are many ways of approaching this. I'm suggesting a couple of visualizations here, not necessarily the best or most sophisticated. Rather than attempting to resist intrusions from the mind ("what we resist persists"), try a visualization. Some people imagine an icon like the "recycle bin" on a computer. Just see yourself emptying the bin. Do it as often as necessary.

Rather than the recycle bin, I've always liked a technique taught by some schools of clairvoyants. Visualize a beautiful red rose out in front of you. See yourself moving the intrusive thoughts out into the rose. Then blow up the rose. See it explode. (If that seems violent, think of the Shiva principle -- creating and destroying are the same energy.)

After practicing this technique, I often don't need to go through the process of creating and then destroying the rose. When unwanted thoughts show up, I just see loose rose petals floating in the ebb and flow of waves washing onto a beach. The rhythm of the waves match the rhythm of breathing. The thoughts, as rose petals, no longer require my attention.

Visualizing, rather than thinking, allows the imagination to see the thoughts going away without interrupting the flow of what Jeddah is saying during the meditation.

I'd be interested to hear what practices others use to dismiss thoughts when they pop up.

RE: Week 4 use of Intention. Wow! Did I get a bodily reaction when Jeddah asked us to think of our environment along with something we intended to do there. Before the start of the current lunar year (February 7, 2008) I extensively re-arranged a particular area of my study using feng shui principles for the purpose of successfully carrying out a long-cherished intention.

As soon as I thought of the environment with that intention, the bodily sensation became quite painful. During the initial phone meditation on Saturday, I was unable to clear this pain completely.

I'm not stating this as a "problem." I'm merely observing, and wondering if others have had to deal with what felt like an out-of-alignment intention. I greatly appreciate this communication directly from the body, and accept the challenge of exploring further to see what aspect of my environment, in relation to this intention, might be out of alignment.

Questions: Are others studying with Jeddah familiar with the "Felt Sense" as it is used in the cognitive psychology technique called "Focusing"?

Hey Pete, I'm new to Learning Strategies and the Forum. Just wanted to say how much I'm enjoying the Jeddah Mali meditation course. I was wondering if there are any plans for a level 2 continuation course after this. I've thought about working with her privately, but there would definately not be enough time for all of us who might be interested to work with her privately. Either way, I'm finding this to be very compelling and truly wonderful. I really appreciate the ability to participate over the phone from my home, it works great for me and I thank you for that. In addition, the meditations are not like any I've ever done before. They have a surprisingly intimate quality and are wonderfully supportive. While I am having some typical issues with falling asleep occasionally with my follow up sessions during the week, I actually just start over from the top and do it again because I find them so engaging. I'm so glad I went with the impulse to sign up! I'm so glad there are so many more sessions ahead. Thanks again -

I'm pleased that everyone is enjoying Jeddah's course. I certainly am. Remember, you can send questions to her directly through that special link we have in the weekly email. She'll answer them in Q&A sessions--we just posted an hour session earlier today on the secret website for the downloads. Check back every week for additional recordings.

Are there plans for a Level 2 continuation course? Well, we're one quarter through the course with 15 sessions to go. Let's see what more you'll want sometime in July. :-)
