Hey Alex,
But people are always talking about how they can read much more after Photoreading. You even said yourself, that your purpose was so that you'd be able to read 3 or 4 novels in a week instead of just 1, didn't you?
And I'm sure READING to him isn't horrible, but probably just reading for school. Everyone would want to be able to read, it's just that no one wants to because of how painstakingly slow it is.
Also, the rubbish comparison is kind of not the same. Reading more is more productive and can help you out more, taking out the garbage is just that, taking out the garbage and there is really no reason why you'd do that except for keeping your house tidy. There are millions of purposes you can get with reading, ie; Learn how to make more money, how to use a computer, about someone's life, etc.
Though I DO agree that a better purpose could definitely help. You can't ever get too good of a purpose, so always work to improve it, I guess.
But if that's what he wants to do, I see no problem with it really. How much more specific can you really get if all you want to do is be able to read more? You'll have more time, so therefore you'll have time to read.
Anthony,
"(by the way, if I photoread a text where I have poor comprehension when reading normally, will my comprehension improve when photoreading the text?) "
It's very possible. If you can't comprehend it because you're only problem is that you're getting bored and going to slow, then yes, your comprehension can definitely improve. If it's about the vocabulary, then probably not. But no big deal, just get yourself familiar with it before reading it, and you should be fine.
I hope I could help,
