Hey Anthony,
I understand what Alex is trying to say, and she's not wrong, but in my opinion a purpose for wanting to do the course isn't vital to learning it. I didn't have a purpose for it, yet I have had great results with it.
Don't focus too much on that, just go through the course and notice how you're doing with it, and you'll be fine.
