Holosync silent subliminals have affirmations recorded at very high frequencies that, supposedly, your brain can perceive and will act upon. I think they also use binaural beats to put you into a more "receptive" state.
The attempt here is to program your mind, as if you were a robot and the part of your brain that receives the ultra-high frequency verbal information will act upon it intelligently ... which I question, because what part of the brain interprets and filters the information in such a way that it is meaningful? How can meaning as intended be communicated in any way to a robot without a feedback loop ... Meaning is derived, not an inherent quality in any communication. But, anyway ...
Paraliminal technology, on the other hand, attempts to guide the listener into a special learning state in which one is relaxed and open to the audible, verbal information on the tape or CD. The voices are spatially organized (that is, they sound like they are coming from different locations in and around your head) and presented in a rhythm. Vocal emphasis is used a la NLP-style Ericksonian hypnosis. Multiple voices are used simultaneously. This creates a very interesting linkage in meaning between various phrases that converge spatially and verbally with certain words or phrases (you'll know what I mean when you listen). At least two modes of speaking are used. One form is in a story or metaphor, the other is direct, factual, and/or suggestive statements.
Your mind is alive. It thinks and learns. I think it is an environment in which information self-organizes, but can also be directed.
I do not like subliminal technology because it operates from a place of programming. While the P in NLP is programming, I think a lot of NLPers view human beings and the deeper intelligence of the subconscious as something more than a robot for programming. I do believe that deep learning and understanding (vis a vis programming) are possible at the unconscious level ... and are a product of the unconscious mind--not the unconscious bio-computer. But, that is just me and my programmed notions of free will.
