Hello all.
I have the photoreading home study course and with that came the memory tape. One of the instructions was not to have the thumbs touching.
Why is this?

Thanks
Alex

Thumbs touching is closing the circuit towards new informtion. It is similar to folding arms and crossing legs the person is blocking information rather than taking it into consideration.

Ah.

I thought it was part of the "escape plan" for if the tape broke in the player and left a person in a somnibulstic state. As long as their hands aren't cataleptic, they can snap out of any level of entrancement by touching their thumbs together.

Do you think the thumbs not touching is symbolic or energectic?

Thanks

Good question.

I did know one occultist who believed he was a vampire. His formula for using "energy vampirism" on people was to imagine himself as a bat, and hook his thumbs together over his solar plexus.

In general, when I paralim, I first crack all my knuckles to loosen the joints of my fingers, and then listen with my fingers apart, not with any muscular tension, but wide enough appart to follow the general posture of Spring Forest Qigong for opening channels. I'm not sure if this makes me more receptive to the learning or not, but it seems to drive my awareness more to an inner level.

A person crossing their arms and legs is usually closing off the outside world (self preservation) energeticly. Usually they have no conscious idea why they have taken that postition only to ask them later you might find that they didn't like something. So they did't want to give energy to or take energy from it. It's actually hard to relax with your thumbs touching because like the crossed arms and legs postition you are 'on guard'.

I find that my body gives me less stimuli to act on when the parts don't touch each other. When putting my hands away from my body I will be less distracted. That way I'm more receptive.

So no bat-posture there...

As tempted as I am to try listening to a paraliminal with thumbs hooked together, hanging upside-down, I'm worried the headphones will fall off. Somehow, adding a chin-strap to the set-up tips it from brilliantly absurd to just silly.
