thank alex

today i tried photoreading with my text book,
my purpose was clear- to remember the maximum information to pass in the upcoming examination.

i took the smallest chapter (3 pages),with only text and no diagrams.

i followed the steps properly.
it took me 15 min to finish the chapter, with mind map. disappointed.

i took the next chapter 4 pages, same purpose, this time i tried to speed up. i could finish the chapter in 8 min. but i feel no satisfaction of completing the chapter and i could recall less when compared to previous chapter.

in second chapter while superreading and dipping my eyes seem to skip all the information that was relevant to my purpose. infact i am also confused because i need to remember maximum information if not word to word.

where am i going wrong.

Try and look at the chapters and incorporate what they are about into your purpose. Ask yourself what you think it is you need to know for the upcoming exam.

Remember textbooks are not like ordinary books. They take 25 to 100 hours of traditional reading to get it. So if you're using PhotoReading on a book that is used for a year of studying (100 hours) then you need to expect to spend between 25 and 33 hours with that book still. Sure it's possible to get it down to 8 or something like that but leave yourself room in your expectation.

Good, better, best, So 33 hours is good, 25 hours is better and 8 hours is best.

Go easy on yourself. As you build the body mind connection it gets faster. Make sure you are asking mind probing questions.

Hi,
Just thought I would add to your post. I am new to photoreading and also studying commerce/ accounting at Uni. Sounds like you are not very directed when going into each chapter about what you need to get out of it for exam. I use my unit outlines and class notes to help me focus on what I need to get out of each chapter. If you want to know the best info for your exams, make sure you are activating with the questions that your tutor tells you are important to know with each chapter. You can't have 100% recall on everything, so get clear on what you really need to know before photoreading (or activating). I hope this helps you.Good luck for your exams.:)
