Hi Gentlespirit, I've having that happen to me to. But I am holding to two things that Jeddah has said. One, one person's question to Jeddah mentioned that he/she started the meditation with the intent to stay awake and aware, which does work for me when I remember to do it, (okay maybe a time or two it hasn't). Two, I think Jeddah's idea that if we don't want something to be the way it is, we need to focus on something else. So if I focus on my frustration at falling asleep, I'll get more of the same. If I focus on what I do enjoy and am aware of, then I'll get more of that. It's learning to re-train our minds to move away from the things we don't like and move over to the things we do...which for me is like trying to get the train off of the tracks, because I have had an ingrained habit that way. However, I recognize that I must do that to make any progress and I try to think of it as just a gentle, loving reminder to myself, 'Oh yeah, I need to be focus on something else.' One other thought I've had is that when I meditate in the afternoon is when I fall asleep, naturally I'm tired at that time of the day. So I'm experimenting with doing this in the morning so I'm fully charged and don't need the rest. Just one more thing, years ago when I was young my family took Transcendental Meditation training, at that time I had the same issue, falling asleep during the meditation. I remember they told me not to worry about it, that my body probably needed the sleep and that over time I would leave that behind. Anyway, good luck, I'm right there with you. All the best to you - Jeni
