I discovered photoreading during my last academic year at university. Despite knowing that a textbook is not ideal for beginners I had an essay due in the next couple of days so thought it was worth a try. I had absolutely no success and forgot about it.
I recently saw a Derren Brown episode which has got me interested again. He got some typical bloke to scan the pages of hundreds of books (moving his index finger and little finger down each page) and then entered him into the UK National Pub Quiz Championship. Alone, he faced teams of the best quiz teams in the UK and managed to finish 2nd. It was unbelievable and has got me very excited about photoreading again.
Since Paul Scheele puts such emphasis on "playing" with photoreading rather than "practice, practice, practice" I've figured that pub quiz books are probably best for me to begin photoreading since they would be the most fun for me.
This is my plan: prepare, skip preview, photoread, activate by reading the quiz questions.
1) Does this plan seem ok to you?
2) The answers are listed on a different page to the questions. This shouldn't be a problem for my "super" inner mind, right?
