When I photoread, do I just stare at the centre of the pages where the imaginary x would join up in the crease? Or do i actually move my eyes quickly around to catch all the text. I feel that just staring at the centre i'm not taking in all bits, even with the tangerine dripping down the back of my neck and smelling pungently.

steve,
here's what i do,
first i look at the center of the page, and then i notice the four corners of the page, i,e the 4 sharp edges of the book, then the imaginary X automatically becomes visible to me. and the words even though i can't read them conciously they appear perfectly clear.
just keep breathing deeply and keep your eyes relaxed i,e(loosen up your control on them)
my advice is to you is that what ever you're doing is correct don't judge or compare if you're doing it right, through time your mind will offer you the various other ways to explore.

your experience with tangerine is pretty interesting, as per my knowledge, tangerine mostly acts like a door way, you walk inside a room through the door, then you forget about the door right?
its the same way.

Just see both pages and the four corners imagining the X. Be careful of staring. Remember to blink. You're just seeing the pages as you flip them so other than the hands turning the pages there is very little movement of the head. (the head would move if you start looking at each page specifically.)

The tangerine should be above the head floating if possible 30 to 45 cm above the head.If it's positioned correctly it won't drip down your back.

May I ask why you have such a distasteful ideal state trigger? It seems to me something that is so revolting would not trigger an ideal state.

While I teach the tangerine technique I don't use a tangerine myself. I have an aversion to them and prefer not to handle them myself. You're description has put me off even more and I am glad I don't rely on a tangerine for my ideal state. \:D

I suggest you make a more positive trigger, even put on a baseball cap for your ideal state,if you want.

Thats a better alternative. I seem to be photoreading fine now, i think i just need to get used to seeing 'larger'.

I'm a bit disheartened tho as it has been mentioned that the photoreading whole-mind system is not recommended for school books and study - only the photoread step. So obviously it is not as powerful for students and professionals seeking broad knowledge, as regular study has been recommended for the bulk of results....?

On that note I feel as if my expectations of the course were too high, and that photoreading may just be dotting the i's and crossing the t's....

...I know, how subjective...

It's brilliant on school books and for studying. Just not good for LEARNING the system on School Books and Studying. You have a vested interest. It's best to learn PhotoReading and THEN apply it to textbooks.

Unfortunately people are reluctant to invest 2 weeks to learn with the home study course and then apply it to school work. It winds up taking 2 to 6 months and risking grades before successfully learning PhotoReading. (If they don't give up) Learn the system, experience it working and then use it on school work.

steve,
the only reason its not recommended to experiment the system at the begining with school stuff is because, while you're learning, with the school books your mind is trying to protect you, and since photoreading is a new approach , your mind will not be free and flexible to the changes as its not sure whether if its going to work or not since its the first time you're doing it.

where as if you were to use it for pleasure since its not important whether you comprehend it or not, your mind will be flexible and less defensive, and once it realizes that with the pleasure reading you derived so much more, it'll be open to experiment with more complicated and more important study material, such as school work.

i for one since i started photo reading at the first month of my academic year i used pring on the school material at the first trail it self, and i had pleasing results.

Thanks for your input.

I'm just surprised that ur points were not mentioned in the home course (the cd's and file) or the book, but I am going to take it on board and focus on other material that is not work related after exams. That and my new hobby of flamenco guitar method.

What a busy holiday ahead of me \:\)
