i am trying to activate a math textbook which include of two year studying.i know that textbooks need more time to activate then normal books and i have to treat each chapter of a textbook as a book within itself.

As i photoread the book, the purpose should be broader?,
Purpose: to get all of the useful information out of this book so that I can do well in my final exam

and when activating, the purpose focus on each chapter
Purpose:i want to understand this chapter:quadratic equation so that i can solve the questions after this and do well in exam.

For subtopic of quadratic equation,"solving quadratic equations".
purpose:To find out and understand the way to solve quadatic equation
Question:what the methods?
Answer found :factorisation, completing the square ,using a formula.
Question:How to use the methods?
and a new purpose generated for each methods.to understand how to use the "method here" to solve the equation.

Do i need to start activating with a new purpose everytime, like what i do just now? bcause i feel that a single broad/non-specific purpose cannot make me focus on what i want to know.thx

At one of the retreats (on dvd) Paul mentioned that when you activate it for part, you activate it all. Perhaps - try activating so that you can solve some of the very tricky review problems?
