How about, "Hello, I'm a human being. I've got flaws. I screw up. But I also do good things too. I have things that are out of my control and things that are in my control. But I have consciousness, freewill, and the ability to make up my own mind about things."
Sometimes it is as easy as just stopping it. It's getting to that place where you see that that is a possibility that's the problem. It's there.
Frankly, if someone wants to go into a twelve step or whatever for "Structure" that's their business. My personal decision, having had friends in high school put through various "rehabilitation" programs, would be to steer clear.
You don't need to defend your choices.
