Hello i'm a beginner(since march 2008)...

1) is "relaxed alertness" same as "acelerated learning state" and "ideal state"? i'm always confused between these terms and wonder whether they refer to the same thing.

2)can i simply use the 'learning outcomes" at the beginning of each chapter in a textbook as my purpose or mind probing question? Because i just can't establish any purposes or mind probing question as the topic in text books is very new to me.

3)Sometimes the question in the test paper ask detailed questions, so i wonder if i PR the textbook i would miss any important details. When i attepmt rapid reading, i feel like i'm using the traditional method cos' it spent a lot of time...anyway to overcome?

4) can i just ignored the mindmapping step in activation? Would i recalled the things i pR after sometimes if so? Will i hv disadvantage when doing revision without mindmaps?

5) in the paraliminal tape "memory supercharger", i heard different Paul scheele's voice on my left and right ears and at last i din know what i'm listening!!! What happened?

6) there is still no live photoreading live seminar here in Malaysia and can i really self-study and succeed?

Thanks!

Hey Seng,

1)Yes, do not let the terms confuse you. Relaxed alertness means that you are relaxed, yet at the same time aware of your surroundings. This IS the ideal state, which is also known as the accelerated learning state. Don't let the terminology bother you.

2)I'm not sure what the learning outcomes are, but if I assume correctly, it tells you what you will learn in the chapter? That's absolutely fine to use, I see no reason why you shouldnt.

3)When you photoread, don't worry about missing important details. The reason that you feel like you're using the traditional method is because you are pulled into passive reading. Become more active. Don't forget your purpose and your questions. Any questions unanswered while activating are what you're looking for now. Go fast through what you already know, slow down when you're learning something new.

4)I usually don't mind map during activation unless the book is for school, or if you want to remember the information for a longer time. Don't worry about mindmapping, it's not necessary, but it CAN teach you good memory habits. You will be at a slight disadvantage, but most of the time it won't be noticed anyway.

5)The point is that the different hemispheres of the brain, creative and logical, will pick up the different voices. You need not consciously understand, just relax. Notice the voices, try not to notice what they're saying. When you do, you will start becoming flustered as they go on, as you most likely won't keep up, and you won't be relaxed anymore.

6)You can most certainly succeed with the self study, as that is how I learned and I have great success with it. Be sure to read posts made on the forum from years ago, as they are very informative and even Pete Bissonette would post responses.
Just be sure to use the system often and you will succeed.

No, Ideal State is using the tangerine technique.

Accelerated Learning State is where you spend time triggering alpha brainwaves so you can give yourself positive affirmation and connect with your intention.

If you still have problems with purpose or mind probing questions work on books not related to school work. Once you know how to get in touch with your purpose mind probing questions follow naturally.

If you want to remember detailed information for school. Mind map. It switches on the brain to help you remember and read more effectively. It will also encourage you to build in layers rather than going straight to rapid reading.

Confusion of the conscious mind. It is intentional. As said don't try to listen with the conscious mind. The nonconscious mind takes care of it.

I learned with the self study course
