I've just read the advertisement for Memory Optimizer. I want to know if this could be helpful to my 83 year old husband who 11 or 12 years ago had mini strokes. He had heart attacks 10 years ago. He has congestive heart failure. The word Alzheimer's was used by his doctor. However, he isn't progressively deteriorating in the manner I associate with Alzheimer's and which I experienced via my mother's decline.

My husband cares for himself, walks and reads. I don't think he retains much if anything from his reading. It isn't possible for him to report to me on what he has read. His judgment and memory are very impaired. He speaks of rebuilding his business of yore.
He doesn't remember the names of his former wives or of his step children.

Is the Memory Optimizer more a preventative than a cure?

My skepticism is based on the following experience:

My brilliant mother, a historian with innate curiosity and the ability to instantly rattle off dates related to every aspect of PA history and our family history, declined horribly mentally. She had advanced degrees from 1st rate universities. She was deeply interested in art history, natural history and world cultures. She delved deeply into the many subjects that interested her. She was a writer with a fabulous vocabulary and the ability to write convoluted sentences if required. Those abilities didn't save her mind.

Thus my cry...At this juncture is there any help truly available for my husband?

I think doctor will tell you you cannot compare.

The course may be able to teach him to link new information to his working memory threads if it is physicaly possible. It would be a slow process that requires persistence. The course would encourage him to record his history as it comes to him and create a timeline. It will be an aide for remembering again and again.

The thing is it could help but you cannot know until you tried. If you do get the course you can ask for an extension of the guarantee for up to six months If you decide it didn't help or is too much work you can return it for a refund.
