the purpose of the ABC list is to peg stuff to and use to make a bunch of lists with different categories. Like abc list for cars, for fruits, for cities, etc. you can use them remember speeches, and for creativty.
If you did that with Kanji, you'd have a hard time coming up with a list of say, musical instruments, that whose names in japanese started off with each of the 2000 daily use kanji.
If you want an easy way to learn Kanji, look for a book by James Heisig. He uses the same type of memory tricks and it makes learning the kanji pretty easy.
