The presenter asked Pete Relevant questions. Without questions the book is not activated neither spontaneously nor manually.
And look a little closer. You'll see there is a lot of stuff that that Pete did not say about the book. That's because the conscious mind is not capable of handling all that information instantly. It becomes conscious as needed.
Does Pete know when he PhotoReads something that he at an other than conscious level knows something about the book? Yes. But he has to wait for the right questions for the right answers to come up spontaneously.
It's neat to set up for an infomercial however most people don't have that kind of set up and most people cannot find someone who knows something about the book to ask relevant questions about it. So we use manual activation "Mind Probing Questions". And since we are doing it alone we need to look it up and check how we are doing so we superread and dip to grab that inkling from our mind using the book as confirmation that this we understand.
