What grade level is your reading up to? I've had 12 year olds in my class handle adult material and activated a 10 page article in 7 minutes. We discuss the authors train of thoughts afterwards. Adults are reluctant to share what they learned for fear of discovering they are wrong. Yet the kids are brilliant and converse quite easily.
Point... they dump their critical processor and just do what I asked them to do after teaching them about the authors train of thoughts.
Point 2 they have an adequate vocabulary. They don't dump on themselves or look for excuses.
If you're working with material that you are finding challenging because of the language the author uses Begin activating at the glossary of the book.
Next ask mind probing questions because even if you don't know the words the words surrounding it will often clue you as to the meaning.
In other words read for meaning not just words.
Either experiment with PhotoReading the dictionary daily or not.
But I suggest you quit giving away your power by asking everyone to validate your thinking for you. Make up your own mind and go with it. It either works for you or doesn't.
If it works great share what you did and perhaps others can benefit.
If it doesn't work great, share what you did and perhaps others can see something they can modify and try for themselves and give us more feedback.
