I am also very very new to Feng Shui. From the info I have read so far (Essentials book) you are to take the reading from the foot of the bed while facing the headboard so I think you are okay. I understand your "paranoia" but for tonight please just relax and sleep well. Someone more experienced will give you a definative answer soon.
