How do you PR and activate a, for example, Java code?

Without a purpose it seems difficult. What do you want to know from that section of the text?

It is really hard to tell what do I want from a programming book. I guess, my wish is to understand this language better(i am really lousy in programming). I know PR doesn't work without a purpose, but there is hard to find a purpose, when you don't get the basics of Java.

I'm fairly new to PR, but from my study and understanding of the system, your initial focus or "statement of purpose" doesn't necessarily need to be overly specific.

Maybe start with something like "I am going to PR this book so I can have a better understanding of the JAVA programming language." Or something to that effect. Apparently the "so I can" bit is fairly important and from memory it is emphasised in the PR course. If I recall correctly it helps create purpose.

Once you have PR, SRead, Dipped (or Skittered?) and possibly broadly Mind Mapped one or preferably several books on the subject you can then narrow in on a more specific purpose for that subject.

I might be wrong, but that's how I would approach it. Good luck.

Germane to programming, it all really depends on how adept you are at the techniques used in that particular source file(s). For example, if you're just starting out with Java, then you won't get anything from PhotoReading a bunch of code that has to do with network programming and that implements design patterns etc. If you don't properly understand variables, loops, classes, polymorphism, encapsulation etc then your brain can't just fill in the gaps. My suggestion is to start, perhaps, by PhotoReading a good intro book such as Teach Yourself Java in 21 Days. That way you build up the necessary framework with which your brain can then piece together more of the source code you PhotoRead in the future.
