Hi,
I've posted on this topic earlier. Thank You for all your support back then - it really did help and encourage me to continue.

Basically, last year a number of factors in my life caused me to become very depressed. I'd had mild depression for a few years before that, but finally it came to a head. I hated myself. I would come home from school each day and beat myself up over every little thing that had happened. I stopped eating properly and I even started cutting my arms. However, using paraliminal tapes and a little bit of NLP, I managed to get out of the cycle. My self esteem improved. I changed a speech impediment that had haunted me all of my life. I no longer felt pain everyday. I could even feel happy sometimes, something I hadn't felt for so long.

Then I went to university this September. All started Ok, obviously there were issues but I seemed to have settled in alright. it's just things aren't as good as I would like them to be. I'm still paranoid and scared of rejection, although not as badly. This then affects my relationships with people. Either I start talking incredibly quickly and saying things I think afterwards were pointless and stupid. Or I'm too scared to say anything and seem moody and boring. I just act weird the whole time, like I don't know how to relate to people in the normal way. It seems like I used to be lively, funny, and interesting to be with. And now I don't have the strength to be like that anymore. Thing is, I know I had faults then too, like being annoying and saying things that weren't funny sometimes. I'd like to go back to being natural like I was then, without all of the faults I should've learnt from. It's getting me depressed. I don't want to repeat my mistakes from the past forever. All I want is to be a likeable, kind person, who doesn't always act weird and anxious or do annoying things. Does anyone have any advice? How can I use the tapes to get over this final hurdle? I would be so greatfeul for any help.

I has some career failures etc. followed by an inability to get a job. I listened to SES everyday for about a month or two. I found this REALLY helped me in making the changes I needed to in my thinking. I also would recomend based on what I read and know about some of victor frankl's work the resiliency course as well.

Good Luck

Consider also the Prosperity paraliminal to build on the work you have done. It's not just about money but also the personal values that you have.

Put some time in truely accepting yourself. You can use the paraliminals to help you. You can use truth seeking thoughtfulness about yourself and the world. Or you can try going into some meditation with this purpose.

I would suggest the Euphoria course form LSC. It may sound like a bit too much for you, but it has introductions into several techniques I think you might find useful.

Remember YOU ARE PERFECTION.

Hi,

A suggestion. Make one of your goals during the paraliminal sessions: "I will learn to speak to myself in tonalities that make me feel good/motivated/euphoric/happy...(your choice of positive feelings). I will forget to speak to myself with nasty/angry/depressing/cynical...(your choice again) tonalities."

Be well

I like purjo's suggest. However, I would omitted the negative action in the imagery. The NLP knowledge I have (all indirect) says that using negative imagery is counter productive, since the sub(other-than)conscious mind won't see the negative. Thus the second message will percieved as DO those negative activities.

Just focus your energy on the positive images.

You are perfection.

Oops, I forgot that forgetting is not always easy! (Pun intended...)

Yes Iam2, it is better to start with only the positive part. I agree.

p.s. If you want to learn how to forget negative feelings, then listen to Richard Bandler's "The art of amnesia and negation" tape. Incredible stuff!

Thank you for all the suggestions. I think I definitely need to be more positive in my self talk. The problem is, I expect to be hurt, upset and rejected. Should I use belief for this, even though it's hard to date when this belief took root. Also, sometimes I feel I don't want to be Happy, because when I am I feel so insecure and sure something will go wrong and knock it all down again and make me feel stupid for thinking that it could go right for me. And I can get support from the whole "grungey" and gothic kind of image of being rejected and in pain. Would automatic pilot be best for this.

Also, I was thinking of using new behaviour generator to stop all the behaviours that irritate me about myself:for example, saying stupid things. How can I do this without making my inner mind stop me saying anything different at all, therefore giving me a bland personality?

You will need to clearly define for yourself what exactly is "stupid things" to say. Consider what you may call stupid might in fact be a good joke or add a bit of humour to a situation. So you really walk a fine line between what you can call stupid and parody. Like you said they can be part of your personality. Now one is perfect and we all say something that we wish we'd have phrased somewhat differently later. The question is how often have other people actually noticed?

Perhaps the focus should be on what you would rather do or be. Perhaps things like: eloqant in your speech, able to speak clearly on a variety of subjects, able to tell a joke in the appropriate settings. Or just plain developing the knack of saying the right thing at the right time.

Look in the direction you want to go.

Alex
