My advice to you is stop feeling sorry for yourself, and start living your life. I don't mean to rude; but the only reason you don't have the life you want is because of the stories that you keep telling yourself.
Go back into some part of your life that is was pretty difficult for you in the beginning but now it’s a piece of cake because you mastered it. (you first learn to crawl, then walk, and finally run)
We have all had inferior personalities at some point in our lives, that's just part of being human. Living involves taking risks, you can't win the game of life by standing at the sidelines. We all have the fear of being rejected by people; but the worst case scenario is they say no. Now are you going to end your life because of that?
A great book that precedes all these gurus is "Psycho-Cybernetics" By Maxwell Maltz. A phenomenal book about a plastic surgeon that discovered people who had plastic surgery still felt horrible inside, until they changed their perceptions of themselves. It takes about 21 days to change your old beliefs, reason being it takes about 3 weeks to feel acclimated in a new house to start feeling comfortable with your new self. Get this book and you won't regret it. It makes you chance your psychology. Another a great book is Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. They have updated versions but don’t get those they are absolutely horrendous; stick to the original and you won’t go wrong.
Get a journal and write down 5 goals that you want to accomplish in the next 12 weeks and why. Then write down how you’re going to accomplish them, and what’s going to prevent you from attaining them. Read it every morning and every evening until it’s innate in your mind. It’s also a great way to track your progress and see what’s working for you, and maybe what isn’t so you can always change it if need be. It does wonders you won’t believe; It’s the little raindrops everyday that fill the bucket to the top. So work on what you want little by little everyday until you have mastered it or attained it. A Harvard study concluded that some 4 % of students that wrote down their life goals were more successful than the other 96 % combined
Now why would you ever feel stupid around people; are you hanging around rocket scientists? Remember this, nobody is ever better than you, ever! Some people might be better educated or know different things, but in time you can learn those if that's what you aspire for. And, is always going to be some people that just don’t like you—that’s a part of life; when you stop worrying about what others think about you, you start living and your whole existence changes.
In conclusion live with by this motto:
Watch your thoughts; they become your words.
Watch your words; they become your actions.
Watch your actions; they become your habits.
Watch your habits; they become your character.
Watch your character; it becomes your destiny!
