Hello Niceguy and welcome!
I appreciate the trust you show in us on the forum by sharing your situation and anxieties with us. I hope our responses will be helpful to you.
Like any other program, Effortless Success works for you only when you are doing the work. 'Effortless' does not mean 'without work' in this context. Success always involves 'work.' What 'effortless' is suggesting here is that the work you are doing is so enjoyable, rewarding, and/or meaningful that you are happy to do the things it takes to be successful. If you take it out of the employment context, and think about building successful family relationships, I think you will see what I mean. Having a strong family involves giving one another hugs, helping each other learn; worshipping, working and playing together, etc. Those are all things that are necessary for family success. But mostly we don't see them as hard things to do. In fact, we make room for them in our day and enjoy doing them. They are what Jack Canfield calls 'effortless.'
Anyway, The Law of Attraction, on which this course is based, says that what you think and feel strongly about is attracted to you. When you worry about something or make efforts to avoid it, you are attracting it! It sounds as if you have been learning to attract the things you want by making decisions on that basis. This is great! - and it is easier to make that kind of fundamental change when things are going reasonably well. When the challenges come (like impending unemployment) it is very easy to go back to the old habit, however. So - above all, I would recommend that you keep focusing on the way you want it to be - and making decisions based on what moves you in that direction.
You have shared what 'financially abundant' means to you right now, but not what 'meaningful' means to you. I can absolutely identify with your feeling that people are talking about dollar amounts way greater than you are interested in right now. Don't let that put you off. Stick with your own goals and remember to feel abundant when you are living the way you want to be living. Money is the symbol many people use to measure their 'success', but your happiness with the meaningful work you are doing is a much more accurate one. And I am wondering what is meaningful to you.
After all of that - yes, if you use the guidelines in Effortless Success to find and pursue what is meaningful to you, it will work for you. Let the time it takes be OK. ['Not enough' is the opposite of abundance even when it is applied to time.] Use the law of attraction to your advantage by thinking about the things you want to have in your life and paying attention to the opportunities around you.
May you create peace in your heart.
