Hi Forum members,
I am totally confused now. According to DFS, my personal element is Wood. Looking at different FS websites, they all agree on the PEN number as well as the best directions and Animal symbols. However, all of them give different Fortune Elements. DFS states that I have a WOOD fortune element,astrology.com says I have an EARTH fortune element and great-feng-shui.com(software) says I have FIRE fortune element. How can this be??? Can anyone explain why the differences please?

There are different schools of FS. Marie speaks of that. I feel her's is correct because her calculations of my Success direction is right. I tested it and I'm much more successful when I sleep in my Success direction as indicated by her chart. So if she was wrong, I'd be screwing up and making tons of mistakes if I was sleeping in the wrong direction. I would go by her calculations. Many of the other schools are in error.

Aloha Chev, As KayLee mentions in an earlier post, different systems have different calculations for their fortune elements. A lot of time people get mixed up when an internet site tells them they are a "Metal" sheep, and their Diamond Feng shui course says that they are a sheep and their fortune element is wood. They both may be coming from a similar rooot school, but the first is giving them their "Year Element" and not telling them so, and the later, their fortune element. Much Love, Shawn

Thank you Shawn - I understand now. So, bottom line is that the other websites are wrong then? If they are right about the year element then, how do I know which one to believe??
Also, in Level one, CD 4, Marie discusses 'Creating Harmony in your Landscape' - She says that the dragon (tall tree etc.)should be on the left looking out of your front door while the tiger should be on the right side (small bush etc.) looking out the front door. She states that the energy of the TIGER is connected with the WEST and the DRAGON is connected with EAST. I do by sure luck have the dragon on my left when I look out the front door and my tiger on my right. However, my TIGER sits on the SOUTH side of my house and my DRAGON sits on the NORTHEAST side. Is this a problem and what is the significance of the compass direction of the DRAGON and TIGER??? Too much confusion here!!!

There you go, trying to get me in trouble with other systems :)WE did have the Year element listed in the chart along with their animal and fortune element, but since she really doesn't work with it, it was more confusing to have it in there.
The calculation that Marie uses for the fortune element is the one in which she's found to make the biggest difference with herself and her clients. The others aren't wrong, just different.
The Landscape piece with the dragon, tiger, turtle, and phoenix, is from the Landscape feng shui perspective, meaning that when looking out your front door, in front of your house is always considered south, the left East, the right west, and the back north - whether or not it is so via your compass. everything else with Marie's system is compass-based, but that landscape section. So to make it less confusing, just pull out the directions references, and think that you need the dragon to your left, a phoenix in front of you, tiger to the right, etc. as you look out your front door.

Shawn - What would be a good example of the phoenix (when looking out the front door)? I Have the dragon in the East, the tiger in the West, a street perpendicular to the one my home is on and is pointing towards the tiger side; here is also a light post in this area and it sits at the end of my driveway; not sure about the turtle in the back -- there are lots of trees.
