Hi! I will be starting the photoreading course in a week, and I have been reading the forums for about 2 weeks now, and despite all the reading I have a couple of Qs before I begin (so I begin with what I feel is all the info I need - which is my top learning mindset)

1) Soft eyes: When I relax my eyes, the words get blurry... is that correct? I tried to make my eyes soft while keeping the center of the page words in focus, but that was very difficult for my eyes

2) Purpose: If I am studying for exams, is "Gaining long term knowledge, therefore aceing my exam" too broad? Should I photoread more than once with different purposes each time?

3) Layers: If I have a technical book (ie pathology) should photoread more than once (maybe whole book, then chapter per chapter), or just photoread 1 chapter at a time, or should I just photoread the whole thing and then activate/go in detail about each chapter later?
I understand I might not understand all the info you may give me on #3, but I will copy it into a word document to keep handy as I progress through the course. I have a couple of weeks only to try this course, so I really want to give it my best!

Hi, Holliday time, sure !
I just want to tell you that you don't have to make any effort to PR, your eyes will be soft if you can see the blip page. Did you try to see a point, just above your book and you try to see the pages (the point can be on the floor) you must be able to see a page between the two pages of your book, if you can't, just try to see the four corner of the book. The blip page can grow up or disepear, doesn't matter, keep calm and sing, it will come back.Soft, soft, and soft !

Hi MissDVM2B

Once you start your course you'll see all the different ways of gaining the knowledge you desire. On #2 both are fine. After photoreading and skimming you'll be able to refine more your objectives. Mind mapping is involved also..so by the time you finish all the parts of photoreading your other than concieous mind will have a good grasp of subject matter. You'll learn how to recall information from your mind in a relaxed way. Enjoy the trip.

Best of luck. You're on the right path.

I've been reading questions about soft eyes. I think I have a better explanation. Have you ever seen those posters that are supposed to have the picture imbeded in them? You can only see the image until you relax your eyes. But, if you relax your eyes so much everything becomes blurry, then you'll never see the hidden image. When you do see it, you want to reach out and touch it because it looks so incredibly real. There is depth to the image. This is the depth that Paul talks about having with the page. You relax, see the blip page, but everything is still in focus. This is what is means to have soft eyes. Additionally, that's why it's important to chant something like a song or your goals for photoreading the book. Since the words are in focus, you'll want to try to read them but the goal is to keep the content out of your immediate awareness and send it straight to your sub-conscious. Seeing all four corners, seeing only the white spaces between sentences, sensing the upturn of the corners of your eyes & mouth and sensing the tangerine at the top of your head will also act as distractions for your immediate awareness. Hope that makes sense.
