With regard to your comment about navigating the forum; don't make the mistake I made early on.
In trying to search for topics (after signing in) I tried to use the brown 'search' box at the top of the page... WRONG!
After fiddling around for a while I discovered the 'search the forums' link, a couple of rows further down in blue... RIGHT!
Hope this tip might save you and others some frustration.
