I think this is how to do the photofokus. It's the best, what can happen to you, when you see the images between the words. In my opinion is this how the photofocus should be.
when I am photofokussing, I try to see the whole book ( like when you do this with the "X"). I only see the images when I am PRing the book upside down.
And now something about the activation moment: What I realized, was that I didn't relaxed myself when I was asking the questions.
When you have a clear purpose, clear questions, you try to relax and ask yourself. It usually takes a bit time until the answer comes up.
And the first time you are doing this you might feel strange, so you have to Pr more and more books to master Photoreading better and better.
