If you can remember the answers without the book, great, when it happens.

If you're not getting answers while activating rephrase the question.

Look at the authors train of thought. What's the problem or challenge the text (article, book, chapter) is addressing?

Why does the author think we need to think about these problems or challenges. The arguments.

Also look for the solutions that the author suggest. And what might be the benefits of applying the solutions?

And in considering those three points consider how it is relevant to you. Can you imagine yourself using the information in the future. Can you use it in your own life. You you have a similar problem or challenge, can you think of a situation where you might be faced with a similar problem or challenge?

See the PhotoReading book for a graphic on the Authors train of thoughts as explained by Paul Scheele.

You can mind map as you answer the questions or later. Depends on your style. I suggest making it a habit to put the pen down to avoid writing out whole paragraphs onto the mind map.
