Hi Phil13,
Mind if I join in?
The dictionary game is very simple really - After PHR your choice of dictionary, just think of a word and imagine where it appears in the dictionary. Run with the first page number that comes to you, including any notion of where on that page the word will be. Then open the dictionary and check to see if you were right. You can do this with friends - they can choose a word for you, as long as it is a real word of course!
Lucid dreaming is a fascinating study. There are various different branches of it. In essence lucid dreaming is a dream, in which you are aware that you are dreaming and can actually exert some influence over what happens, that is to say, take part in it actively, as a collaborator. Have you ever had a vivid dream, that was lovely, and then woke up briefly to go to the bathroom to, say, get some water, and then afterwards, went back to bed and went right back into the dream again? You did? Well then congratulations because that means you can already do lucid dreaming.
If you wish to start this, you can create an affirmation for yourself that you will become lucid during your next dream, and repeat this to yourself, peacefully, before you go to sleep. This is a classic way in - it's called a mnemonic initiated lucid dream (MILD). Another way in is to start by keeping a small journal next to your bed, and whenever you wake up, record the thoughts and images that you see/hear/feel or saw/heard/felt in your dream. Don't judge them, just accept their presence and note down any thoughts or feelings you have about them. In time, you will get a lot of insight into your life, your past, your future. Keeping a dream diary can eliminate depression. It's very powerful.
You can also deliberately decide to do some creative daydreaming, or journeying by building a dream consciously, and allowing yourself to fall or go into it. Again, when you wake up, or come back out again, notice what was happening.
Image Streaming is one of the most powerful skills you can learn in my view. I remember when I learned to do Image Streaming Over the Wall, I chose an issue to resolve that had been painful for me and a plague in my life for over 30 years.
It was resolved in 30 minutes, and now I can happily say that as a writer I am no longer a slave to inspiration - I can show up and write anytime. If only I had known Paul Scheele earlier!
Image Streaming can be done alone or in pairs. If you do it alone, imagine you are in a beautiful garden or landscape and there is a wall a few metres away from you. Inside you is an issue that you want a solution to, and on the other side of the wall is the solution. Imagine yourself going around the garden - describe it onto a handheld recorder if you like, or open your eyes now and then and draw what you see there - then imagine yourself going up and over the wall to view your solution and to encounter it. Again, describe what you see.
Accept what is there. It will make sense - and it will be important. Finally, return to the garden taking your solution with you.
If you do this in pairs, one person imagines and describes their garden, and tells the other person what they are seeing, while the other one draws it. At the end, when you have finished, you look at the drawing, and you each share how it felt and what you each thought while you were doing the exercise (you don't have to name the issue that you were working on), and then swap roles, so each of you can have a go at this. Pls note: if you do this with someone, they may address a traumatic issue, so be prepared for people to be unable to finish the exercise or to become tearful. If this happens, and there is a block, it is enough for the person to climb a ladder and peak over the top or just sit on the wall. I once experienced this with someome who was grieving. It helped her and she said she would conclude the exercise when she was ready. Do NOT take these responses personally.
You may need to do some conversational hand-holding, however, and just re-affirm to the other person that they can do what they feel comfortable doing and go back to it later.
Let me know if you try any of these. Will look out for your response. Keep flying.
