PhotoReading is not an alpha state. It's a "no alpha" pattern. So reaching alpha is not without a doubt PhotoReading in fact if you are triggering alpha during the PhotoReading step, you're trying too hard to read.

Alpha shows up with theta during activation.

I think you're getting stuck too much on the theory. Try relaxed doing instead. The greatest leaps occur when you just do and play on the results you are getting. Got a book done in 4 hours. Cool. Perhaps you could refine your purpose so next time takes less time.

As for reaching alpha.

Take a deep breath,

Slowly exhale

Take another Deep breath

As you slowly exhale turn your eyes upwards and with a soft gaze notice a spot in front of you about 20 degrees above your normal line of vision (don't move your head to look up just your eyes)

Take anther deep breath

Slowly exhale and close your eyes. As you close your eyes notice tension leaving your body. Allow your body to relax.

Now just notice your breathing for another 2 or three breaths. You're in alpha.

Open your eyes and focus, you leave alpha.

to trigger alpha you need only to turn your attention inward.

The brainwaves follow the action.
