Reading on a computer is 25% slower than paper. The ability to hold a book and think of your question and flick open the books to the page with your answer is lost. One of the coolest experiences and even after all these years of PhotoReading it still makes me smile when it happens. Especially in front of my students when I pick up a book pose a question I might ask the author open the book and show how I would superread and the students notice it's exactly the page with the answer.
E-readers while faster than computer screen will also be slower and remains 5 to 10% slower than paper form. You are forced to work from beginning to end especially if the book does not have a linked table of content. The PhotoReading step is slower than I like but fast enough.
Computer screen allows for optimal speed but as reading on screen suffers I prefer to activate on an e-reader.
For me it's all the same since I've developed my own techniques for handling electronic reading. So for me on screen and ebook reading speed is about the same. Like I said the instantly opening the book to the right page is harder. I still move quickly to the right place on the computer screen.
If you are learning. I recommend working with printed material. Because the computer screen is slower for reading you would be starting your PhotoReading career with the breaks on. Get the flow of printed material then you can become a master of electronic ink.
