Hey, I am very interested in your hallucination of the calculator idea. I am knew to hypnosis and wonder how in the world you did that? Or even the other method of having the answer come into the conscious mind? Can you describe the process? I am looking things up online and went to the library (all the books on hypnosis were stolen. seriously.) but I would like to know what you did seeing as how you did it successfully. Most of the stuff online is like how to lose weight and stuff and what I want to use it for is highly customized, like the calculator thingy. Thanks.

I suggest that you view his postings elsewhere on this forum. To begin with, I also suggest that you learn basic self-hypnosis before moving into thngs which are very specific, like the calculator. Being able to summon up such hallucination, I imagine to require a great degree of fluidity and experience with trance-work. I vouch for the Betty Erickson method as good for beginners. A google search reveals this particular method. Also, I suggest that you be persistent with your library and eventually check out a good book which is about hypnosis in general, and they do exist, but often they have many sections which are specific as well.

danno,

kristoff gave some good advice...

its worth practicing going into trance before attempting the calculator thing. you need a deep level of trance to be able to experience hallucinations such as that, and that requires practice.

each time you go into trance, you are training your mind to go deeper. so the more practice you get, the deeper you will be able to go, and the quicker you will be able to get there.

one book i would recommend is "trance-formations" by richard bandler and john grinder (creators of nlp). it talks about self hypnosis, hypnotic phenomena (hallucinations, time distortion, amnesia, anaesthesia etc) and all sorts of stuff that you would find helpful.

the book is now out of print, so if you go to www.bookfinder.com , you can search for it there and buy it from one of the 2nd hand bookstores for a good price.

however, even if you get the book, i still recommend seeing a profesional hypnotist if you can afford it. if you are set on doing things like the calculator thing, you would save yourself an awful lot of time.

i'm not saying you cant develop the skill level by yourself to do it. i know that you can. and i know that someone like yourself will be determined enough to get there.

i'm just saying that if you can afford it, it'll be worth it.

if that isnt an option, find yourself a partner to practice with, as that will be the next best thing. having someone guide you through hypnosis is much easier than doing it by yourself. and you will also find that you are able to accomplish more. if you decide to do that, i can recommend some books to help you out.

let us know what you decide to do

Thanks for the reply. I tried self hypnosis last night and got way deeping than I expected. I didnt even use any aids like the brainwave gen and i got very relaxed. It was pretty cool. I was suprised at how real some the things can be that you hear and see and feel internally. I will look up that bandler book. I dont think seeing a hypnotist is really an option, at least right now. Maybe down the road I'll consider it. What do you think about recording my voice getting me into trance and then once i'm there I can give myself suggestions and bring myself out? Also, is it difficult/dangerous at all to learn how to hypnotize someone else?

danno..

a lot of people find that the best way to get results with self hypnosis is simply to state your desired outcome before you go into trance and then go into trance for however long. e.g. say "i want to be be an expert at going into trance" or "i want to think with clarity and precision".. then slip into trance with the intention and knowledge that your unconscious mind will organise its resources to fulfil your outcomes. once in trance, you dont have to think about anythiing, you dont need to make any visualisations, just let your mind drift away. your unconscious is working on yur outcome, you dont have to try to do anything. the less you think, the deeper you will go, and the more you will get out of your hypnosis sessions.

the taped suggestion thing will work too, but do some reading on making good hypnotic suggestions. there is an art to making good suggestions and it would be worth you while to learn as much as you can about them.

try the pre-trance outcome method and see how that works out for you. you will be training your mind to go deeper and deeper, quicker and quicker.
in the meantime, you could be learning about making great suggestions, so that by the time you have learned to make fantastic suggestions, you will also be able to go mega-deep from all your hypnosis practice.

combine the two and whammo!

hey do you use the pendulum method for testing your suggestions or anything? I used that tonight and it seems pretty cool. Works well. You use any other methods for testing suggestion before you use them? How many times do you repeat a suggestion either in one session or over multiple sessions? How long do you find it takes for one to start taking effect? I did a bunch of reading today particuarly on suggestions.

well, the pendulum is a great way to get answers from your subconscious.

just remember though, you subconscious doesnt know the answer to every question you can find for it...

it knows what it has learned, so if you havent thoroughly learned about suggestion formation, then how could it be well-equipped to say whether a suggestion is good or not? you see what i mean.. its like someone who doesnt speak french asking their subconscious via a pendulum whether or not "j'aime le sur et le chocolat" is good french.. just for the record it probably isnt
you see what i'm saying. if you dont do the learning, then your unconscious is going to be pretty clueless about suggestion formation. it can only base its answer on what it knows, so if it doesnt know that much, it will provide you with a poor answer.

i'm not saying you havent done the learning. i know you are and i know you will become very good at forming great suggestions. i'm just warning you against certain (very easy) pitfalls, which many fall down.

this isnt to say you shouldnt use the pendulum. its not even to say you shouldnt ask it questions about whether a suggestion is well-formed.. because if your unconscious understands the concepts of a good suggestion, it will be able to give a good judgement. even better than your conscious mind.

but you know, there is even an art to asking the pendulum the right questions. i wont go into it too deeply. but try to make sure that your suggestions are of benefit to your whole being (your ecology). if there is a secondary gain to having theproblem you want to change, you will find resistance to the suggestion. if your suggestion is likely to produce detrimental knock-on effects (e.g. your friends dont like you anymore because you are so smart), then you will find resistance. so try and make sure that there are no blocks in your way. you can do this by asking the pendulum. if there is nothing in your way and the suggestions are beneficial for your entire ecology, then you will be on the fast lane to success, because your subconscious will be hungry to integrate the suggestions and make them a reality.

i think you're doing really well, danno. you're moving in a positive direction. my only suggestion would be to find a good book on hypnosis and read it thoroughly. because you have many questions which need to be answered if you want a more complete picture of hypnosis and how you can get it to work for you.

keep us informed of how you're doing.
