What were your mind probing questions? Without questions superreading, skittering etc will not present anything.
Your science purpose is not a true purpose. You never mentioned your purpose for maths. Mine would have been to understand x of algebra so that I can perform the calculations quickly.
Remember to chunk your goals. It sounds like you read the whole textbook without actually activating by doing some of the exercises.
