I have been listening to Ideal Weight for about a month. I have great results with the other Parliminals, but am not having much luck with this one. I need to lose about 50 pounds, and have not lost any. I have not had an easy life, and have many issues tied up in questions of weight and food. I also have been listening to Self Esteem super charger, which makes me feel much happier and confident, but doesn't seem to effect my weight any, either.

Here are some issues that have come to light:

1. Part of me loves being overweight and not receiving attention from men, because they scare me..(abuse father, abusive former husband..yadda, yadda, yadda)

But I am a nice person and I deserve to look nice and feel good- be at my Ideal Weight. I really want to. It's a dilemna.

2. I am a single mother and full time student. Food is one of my few sources of relaxation and pleasure, and I don't want to give it up. Yes, I can take bubble baths and get my nails done and stuff, but nothing is like food for comfort.

3. My main caregiver that died when I was a kid loved me way too much with food, and that's how I connect with her now.

Does anyone have any advice? I keep listening to this Paraliminal, but don't feel like I'm getting anywhere. Oh, I also find myself vaccilating between weight watchers, eating whatever I want, and eating a whole foods/ healthy diet. The last one makes me feel best, but then I feel like I should be doing Weight watchers, and then I get frustrated and eat whatever I want. I'm very confused. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks for reading!

The New History Generator might help loosen some of the links to the past that are keeping you stuck. It's obvious from your assessment that you have a lot more reasons to stay overweight than reasons for being slim.

Like a pro and con list. You've listed more for staying overweight than letting go of the excess baggage it creates. Make a list so the desire to lose weight becomes stronger. Give yourself reason to want to lose weight. New History Generator will help you let go of some of the links to the past. Then Ideal Weight can guide you to the better eating plan that you feel comfortable with. Remember if you get the urge to follow a particular diet to help you on the road to reducing, don't fight it off with the idea that all you need to do is listen to Ideal Weight. It's a call to action.

Or, on second thought, I may have a better idea. I don't want to go through the Ideal Mindset Course again right now, because I am going back to school tomorrow, and don't want anymore "homework". I just want to state my intention and put my headphones on.

Anyway, I was thinking about giving myself more reasons to lose weight than to be overweight. I have moved mountains since my son was born. He is a little overweight, too. He will be very tall, and I think it is partly that, but he has also picked up some of my unhealthy eating habits, I fear. If I could make him my motivation...make losing weight about being a good mother...that might override the other stuff. It has certainly created miracles in other areas in my life.

Thanks for reading...just trying to work this out in my mind...using you paraliminal guys as a sounding board. Thanks!

Hello lynnlingh,

I have some paraliminals, I enjoy listening to them and the ones I have seem to work well for me.

But it is clear that something like EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) could help in your case: www.emofree.com

or TAT: www.tat-intl.com

Your reason, your motivation has to be yours, for you and about you. You already are a good mother, don't create a bad mother image to try and motivate yourself.

It should be benefits, things you enjoy about being slim, often the opposite of what experience with being overweight. Nicer close for the smaller figures become accessible. More room in the seats at the movies. Not as tired walking, can keep up with the kids and the dog when they play. Can play with them more actively. More flexibility.

List what you would enjoy about being slim.

Alex

I have been thinking about this today...what do I enjoy about being slim? I'm actually having trouble thinking of things. I'm thinking of more benefits of being heavy! See, I'm not so fat that it causes a big problem in my life. I can still hike and stuff, and it's not like I'm grotesquely huge. I actually excercise regularily in moderate amounts, and am not particularily unfit. The only thing I miss about being skinny is that it is so much easier to throw any old thing on in the morning when you are in a hurry, and still look presentable. Otherwise, attrativeness is a nuisance, some men leer, some women get catty and you don't understand why...plus, my life has been getting better and better the more weight I put on. Not because of the weight, but, life sucked a lot more during the time that I was skinny. I don't know? Should I just be fat and happy? I would like to put on a bathing suit and not feel self conscious when I take my son to the water park, but other than that, I don't think I really mind being heavy enough to diet. That is so weird, but it seems like that is why Ideal Weight is not working. Having said all that, though, there is still this driving force in me that remembers how nice it feels to be thin and fit. How healthy. And it misses it. Huh, I dunno. I guess I'll keep listening once a week, but put this issue on the back burner. I don't know what else to do about it right now if I actually like being fat!

Perhaps for now your Ideal Weight is the weight you are at. Or instead of 50 pounds ligher you really only want to be 25 pounds ligher.

By the way being at a stable weight is healthier than constantly going up and down. Even if it is over weight.

Find the peace within.

yes, 50 pounds may be a little excessive. 25 sounds about right, and maybe not right this minute.

Thanks,
later

Can I ask something?

I do weight lifting/bodybuilding. I want to loose some fat, but I also want to keep the muscle. So will this paraliminal help me at all?

If somehow my appetite decreases and I eat less, then the muscle will also go away too. This is not good.

Bob
