Since I don't mind larger file sizes, and don't need it to play on a CD player, I'll fiddle around with high bitrates and VBR, etc. I also understand that I'll have to make sure it's not using joint stereo in the encoding process. I may also give Apple Lossless a try -- the files are bigger than mp3 or mp4, but still a lot smaller than .wav or .aiff.
