Playing an affirmation tape/cd/mp3 in the background when we are not paying much attention to it makes it work faster. How about playing it (softly) when we go to bed? As our minds go from beta to alpha to theta, our own affirmation (let's say 30-45 mins tape) will help us even more as it is our own voice. Comments?

True for some false for others.

Most people grew up accepting what others told them about them. "You're silly, you won't have any money left if you spend it reckless, You have to save for a rainy day, you're just not good at painting..."

Those became our affirmations. So for some they will hear the affirmations in their own voice and another part of the mind says liar, not true and pulls up all the memories of occasions when someone else pointed out otherwise.

This makes the personal Celebration Series even more rewarding because someone else is affirming about us. Strange to say but an affirmation needs only be spoken once by someone else and it can radically change what we think about ourselves.

I remembered a couple of times I made a comment about myself and a lacking quality. One person I didn't even know the name of corrected me pointing out that not only did I have the quality I felt was lacking but I was demonstrating it there and then on the spot. It was a powerful experience when a stranger corrects you and points out you're demonstrating that quality there and then. My belief changed overnight.

Another occasion was with a close family friend. I had come to accept a beleif instilled in my by my father. When I happened to make that remark to her she countered that I in fact posses the exact skill more than anyone else she had known. Powerful stuff coming from someon old enough to be my mother.

Other people find their own affirmations work perfectly when they have evidence of the truth they can reach in their minds.
