There are three principles in Space Feng Shui to help you select a color for painting your home's exterior. Each of the principles can help you, and one is not necessarily better than the other.
The main point is to choose a color that you truly like, one that you will feel great about when you come home. If the suggestions offered in one principle do not appeal to you, then do not use them. Even though the color is good Feng Shui, if you really do no like it, then it will not be effective for you. If that is the case, use the colors you need for balance in a small way, like trim, landscaping, or outside accessories.

Marie goes into a lot more depth in the article regarding the three principles. Here they are in a nut shell:
Look at the surrounding environment - if it's really unbalanced (a lot of wood -in the forest, or a lot of water-lakeside/ocean view) you could use a house and front door colors to balance the over abundance of a certain element. For example, you would use white or other metal colors if you live right next to a large lake or ocean. Look at the "Balance" facet section of your manual to see what weakens the overpowering element
You can choose a front door and exterior color to activate or enhance the facing direction of the house. In Landscape Feng Shui, the "facing" direction of your home is the side of your home with the most yang energy. This is usually the side of your house open to the road where people and vehicles enter your property. ).
You can also work with the fortune element color of the major breadwinner of the house, a combination of the two main breadwinners, or of the one who spends the most time there. You can use this for the whole house, or just the trim.
Or if you are facing a hospital, or cemetery, Marie has mentioned using a red door in that situation.
There are some time Feng Shui situations where a red door may be called for as well.
